U.S. 70 E is down to one lane. A team is on scene reconstructing the accident. No other information is available at this time.

A Garner a Police Officer responding to a call was involved in an accident at US 70 & New Rand Rd. The officer suffered minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Wake Med with non-life threatening injuries. New Rand Rd S of 70 is closed.

No money was taken from the CFCU robbery. Suspect jumped the counter at SECU and took cash.

Garner Police are on scene and Investigators are trying to determine if the same suspect(s) were responsible for both robberies. Potential suspect vehicle is possibly brown in color, maybe a Nissan. Suspect is believed to be a white male. No further description at this time

Garner Police are investigating two back to back robberies. The first robbery occurred at 4:43 at the Coastal Federal Credit Union, 1060 Timber Dr E. The second occurred at 4:57 at the State Employees CU at 1000 Vandora Springs Road. No injuries reported.

Garner PD will have additional personnel at GMHS as well as the 9th grade center in response to today’s incident. We will be working with the school system to put in place appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of students and staff.

Garner PD responded to the GMHS 9th grade center earlier today after a student pulled a fire alarm. Several fights broke out among students while outside. At least two students were detained. Garner Police has maintained a presence at the school. No weapons were involved.
