Please take a moment on Monday to remember all of those who were killed 16 years ago. Especially remember all of the First Responders who ran into the buildings to try and save those needing to get out and all of those in the military who also gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting in the War on Terror.

DC West begins classes on the 23rd. Please be aware of kids on the streets and slow down. Let's have a safe school year!

The scammers are laying awake at night trying to come up with new ways the scam you out of your money!

The Valley Police Department would like to wish everybody a happy and safe Independence Day as we celebrate the 241st birthday of the United States. We hope that everybody uses their fireworks the way they were manufactured to be used and that children are supervised when lighting them. Also, please remember to clean up the debris left by the fireworks, especially if they were shot off in the street. Please do not place them in a trash can until they are definitely cooled off. Finally, just a friendly reminder......all fireworks become illegal to shoot off at midnight, so please be considerate and be finished up by then. No fireworks can be shot off at any time after the 4th.

Now that Summer has arrived, along with the heat, please do not leave your pets in an unattended vehicle. Vehicles heat up very quickly and can become fatal for the pet. Also, if you have pets outdoors, please make sure they have plenty of both shade and water.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department, the Deputies involved and their families.
