Last week New Milford Police was honored to participate in David E. Owens Middle School's Career Day as a spokesperson for Law Enforcement. We were joined by many experts in various different career fields. Thank you to the school principal and staff for allowing us to be a part of this event!

Police Blotter 05/24/2018 – 06/05/2018 Dispute 05/24/2018 6:47 p.m. – A Lenox Ave. resident reported that he had a dispute with a service technician and was threatened. Fraud 05/25/2018 1:27 p.m. – A Concord St. resident reported that someone had made unauthorized charges on his credit card. All information turned over to the detective bureau. Fraud 05/25/2018 2:11 p.m. – A Cleveland St. resident reported that someone had opened multiple credit accounts in her name. All information turned over to the detective bureau. Found CDS 05/25/2018 4:08 p.m. – Police were alerted to marijuana plants growing in the wooded area on Columbia St. The plants were removed by the police. CDS Arrest 05/25/2018 4:17 p.m. – A 51 year old female from Dumont, NJ was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop. She was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. Stolen Motor Vehicle 05/27/2018 9:30 a.m. – A Birchwood Rd. resident reported that her vehicle was stolen sometime overnight. The vehicle was located in Bronx, NY. All information turned over to the detective bureau. Disorderly Person 05/28/2018 9:06 a.m. – Police were dispatched to a Faller Dr. apartment on a report of a dispute. A 25 year old female from New Milford was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. She was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. CDS Arrest 05/29/2018 7:53 a.m. – A 28 year old male from Brooklyn was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams following officers checking on a suspicious motor vehicle. He was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. Theft 05/29/2018 3:18 p.m. – A construction site on River Rd. reported that someone had stolen numerous tools and equipment from the site. All information turned over to the detective bureau. CDS Arrest 05/29/2018 10:40 p.m. – A 19 year old male and a 18 year old male, both form New Milford, were arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop. They were both released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. Aggravated Assault 06/02/2018 3:40 p.m. – A 44 year old male from Wood Ridge, NJ was arrested for aggravated assault after police responded to a River Rd. restaurant on a report of a dispute. The actor threatened a co-worker with a knife during a verbal argument. He was released ROR with a return court date in CJP Court. Theft 06/02/2018 4:22 p.m. – A Teaneck, NJ resident reported that a family member stole items from her while in New Milford. All information turned over to the detective bureau. Fraud 06/04/2018 5:19 p.m. – a Monroe St. resident reported that she was a victim of a scam involving Apple gift cards. All information turned over to the detective bureau. Fraud 06/05/2018 11:53 a.m. – A Senate Rd. resident reported that someone had fraudulently cashed checks that he had previously mailed out. All information turned over to the detective bureau.

Congratulations to the students of B.F. Gibbs Elementary School for their completion of the Inaugural Law Enforcement Against Drugs (LEAD) taught by Officer Trapani. On Wednesday May 23, a graduation ceremony was held for the students at Gibbs School. In attendance was Chief Ramaci, Officer Trapani, graduating students and school faculty.

Congratulations to the students of St. Joseph School for their completion of the Inaugural Law Enforcement Against Drugs (LEAD) taught by Officer Trapani. On Friday May 18, a graduation ceremony was held for the students at St. Joseph School. In attendance was Chief Ramaci, Officer Trapani, graduating students and school faculty.

The New Milford Police Department wanted to take this opportunity to remember and honor those who have given their life protecting this country. The New Milford Police Department Honor Guard Unit led today's annual Memorial Day Parade in New Milford. We wish everyone a safe Memorial Day.

On 05/26 at 6:11 a.m., NMPD officers responded to a Congress Street address on a report of a bear roaming through yards. Officers were able to locate the bear in a yard on East Woodland Road about a block away from the initial sighting. Tyco Animal Control and NJ Fish and Wildlife were also called to the scene. NJ Fish and Wildlife were able to tranquilize the bear and remove it to state land in Morris County without incident.

New Milford Memorial Day Events: 8:00am - Fireman’s Service, Borough Hall 8:30am - Service, VFW Post 4290 9:15am - Parade starts, corner of Cecchino Drive and River Road 10:00am - Town Service, Borough Hall River Road will be closed for the parade from Main Street to Reichelt Road. Other Road Closures include Milford Ave from Salem Street to River Road, Trenton Street, Henley Avenue from Stockton Street to River Road. Please use the Boulevard instead of River Road if traveling during parade times.

Police Blotter 05/09/2018 – 05/23/2018 Warrant Arrest 05/09/2018 9:19 a.m. – A 33 year old male from New Milford was arrested for having an outstanding warrant from Central Municipal Court while walking in town. He was turned over to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department. Warrant Arrest 05/10/2018 11:01 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to Hegi Drive on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, a 32 year old male from Passaic, NJ and the passenger, a 28 year old female from Paterson, NJ, it was determined that the male party had an outstanding warrant from Hawthorne, NJ and the female had outstanding warrants from Newark, NJ and Fair Lawn, NJ. The female was released ROR and the male was turned over to Hawthorne Police. Fraud 05/11/2018 10:47 a.m. – A Bergenfield resident reported that he mailed a check in New Milford and had noticed that the check was cashed by an unauthorized party. All information turned over to the Detective Bureau. Fraud 05/11/2018 11:18 a.m. – A Morris Lane resident reported that someone had opened a bank account in her name. All information turned over to the Detective Bureau. Harassment 05/11/2018 4:01 p.m. – A Boulevard resident reported ongoing harassing incidents involving her neighbor. CDS Arrest 05/13/2018 11:59 p.m. – A 34 year old male from Hempstead, NY was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams following a motor vehicle stop. He was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. Fraud 05/14/2018 8:01 p.m. – A Grand Street resident reported that someone had made unauthorized purchases on her debit card. All information turned over to the Detective Bureau. Stolen Vehicle 05/15/2018 4:08 p.m. – A Voorhis Avenue resident reported that an acquaintance had taken his vehicle without his consent. The suspect was contacted and she returned the vehicle to the owner. Charges pending at this time. CDS Arrest 05/16/2018 11:04 p.m. - A 54 year old female from New Milford, NJ was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams following a motor vehicle stop. She was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. CDS Arrest 05/18/2018 12:55 a.m. - A 22 year old male from Teaneck, NJ was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams following a motor vehicle stop. He was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. Obstruction Arrest 05/20/2018 3:57 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a dispute on Faller Drive. One of the parties involved, a 38 year old male from New Milford, was arrested for obstruction. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant from Wayne, NJ. He was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford. Warrant Arrest 05/21/2018 9:32 p.m. - A 33 year old male from Englewood, NJ was arrested for having an outstanding Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Warrant following a motor vehicle stop. He was turned over to the Bergen County Jail. Eluding Arrest 05/21/2018 11:11 p.m. – Officers attempted to pull over a motor cycle for motor vehicle violations. The motorcycle attempted to elude officers and lost control of his bike a short distance away. The driver, a 23 year old male from New Milford, was arrested and charged with eluding, careless driving and reckless driving. He was released ROR with a return court date in CJP Court. Dispute 05/22/2018 3:17 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to Prospect Park on a report of juveniles fighting. Officers located the parties involved and all information was turned over to the school resource officer for follow up. CDS Arrest 05/22/2018 6:18 p.m. – A 30 year old female from New Milford was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams following a motor vehicle stop. She was released ROR with a return court date in New Milford.

From May 21 - June 3, 2018 law enforcement agencies in New Jersey and nationwide will conduct Click It or Ticket campaigns that incorporate zero-tolerance enforcement of safety belt laws with public advertising and the support of government agencies, local coalitions and school officials to increase safety belt use and defend against one of the greatest threats to us all - serious injury or death in traffic crashes.

Today the New Milford Police Honor Guard Unit attended the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service in Ocean Grove, NJ to honor the memory of all of the fallen officers in NJ. Let us never forget their sacrifice.

Police Blotter 05/02/2018 – 05/11/2018 Warrant Arrest 05/02/2018 5:13 p.m. – A 28 year old male from New Milford was arrested for outstanding criminal warrants from Hackensack, NJ and Waldwick, NJ after an officer recognized him walking around the Brookchester Apartment complex. He was turned over to Hackensack PD. Warrant Arrest 05/03/2018 10:45 a.m. – A 37 year old male from New Milford was arrested at his residence for having outstanding warrants from New Milford, Paramus and North Bergen. Party posted bail and was released with pending court dates. Fraud 05/04/2018 11:39 a.m. – A private school in New Milford reported that someone had cashed a check from their account that was not authorized to do so. All information turned over to the Detective Bureau. Illegal Dumping 05/08/2018 2:35 p.m. – The Department of Public Works reported that someone had illegally dumped garbage at their facility in the past. All information turned over to the Detective Bureau. Warrant Arrest 05/10/2018 11:01 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle. A subsequent investigation determined that the driver, 32 year old male form Passaic, NJ and the passenger, a 28 year old female from Paterson, NJ were both found to have active warrants from Hawthorne, NJ. The female posted bail and the male was turned over to Hawthorne PD.

New Milford Police Press Release CDS Distribution/Child Endangerment Arrest On 05/09/2018 at 12:38 a.m. Officer Vincent Siekierski conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Hoffman Avenue and Chestnut Street for driving on the wrong side of the road. Upon asking the driver for her vehicle’s paperwork, the officer observed a clear bag containing 30 THC cartridges. A subsequent investigation also revealed approximately $11,000.00 in U.S. currency from the vehicle with no valid explanation. The driver, Shaina Gilmore, 28, of Beverly Hills, CA and the passenger, Frederick Civers, 37, of Mount Vernon, NY were both taken into custody. A three year old female child was also in the vehicle sleeping at the time of the stop. She was taken by the officers on scene and turned over to the NJ Department of Child Permanency and Protection. Gilmore and Civers were both charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 Grams, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana under One Ounce, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within 1000 Feet of a School Zone, Money Laundering under $75,000.00, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Gilmore was also given two traffic summonses for Delaying Traffic and Careless Driving. Gilmore was released ROR with a return court date in CJP Court. Civers was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

This past Saturday, the NMPD participated in the DEA Prescription Drug Takeback. We collected over 118 pounds of unused medications. Thank you to all who came in and disposed of their unwanted drugs.

On Monday night, Officer Gerais, Sgt. Pisano and Capt. Kiene were honored by the New Milford Mayor and Council for their actions in delivering a baby on March 25. Also pictured are Mayor Subrizi and Chief Ramaci. Congratulations to all officers involved!

Police BOLO: On Sunday April 8 in the early morning hours, a vehicle was burglarized on River road in the north end of town. The actor stole a wallet containing cash and credit cards.
