On 10/24/2017 Belleville police arrested and charged a 27 year old Newark man with a residential burglary and theft. The incident occurred on Frederick Street in Belleville shortly before noon. What makes this arrest notable is the community awareness that led to the apprehension of this burglar. Three area residents saw suspicious activity because they know their neighbors and knew the resident of the home was not present. The neighbors contacted Police and later positively identified the suspect. So a big thank you to the residents on Frederick Street for acting as a community. In addition all the victims property was recovered. Also a huge thank you to Clara Mass Security.

Parents; There is a significant presence of marijuana candy and other edible forms in New Jersey and nearby states. The presence of these edible forms of marijuana poses a great risk to users, especially to children, who may accidentally receive marijuana candy during Halloween. Adults should check for unusual candy packaging (e.g. homemade packages, such as plastic bags). Currently, there is no information indicating that anyone would intentionally give out marijuana candy. This is just an advisory only. Please see attached Photo

Belleville Police Community Outreach Party was a success. Thank you to the sponsors, Belleville Police Officers, volunteers, and community leaders. Without all of you this would not be possible. It’s a great thing when the community and those that protect the community come together to share a fun relaxing day. There was plenty of food, great giveaways, and over 40 kids left with a child ID Kit.
