Metuchen Police welcomed two new police officers at last night's council meeting. Welcome Kelsey Florczak and Kevin Ryan to the Borough of Metuchen!

Arrested!!............... AGAIN!!! Metuchen Police Department arrested 28 year old Aaron Jackson, formerly of Linden now residing in Metuchen. Today, at 9:10 am he was seen entering an unlocked parked car in the driveway of a Maple Ave home in Metuchen. Jackson was located a short distance away from the home and was placed in custody for possession of drug paraphernalia. Jackson later confessed to the burglary on Maple Ave as well as additional burglaries he committed in Clark, NJ. Jackson was arrested in Metuchen for the same type of crimes on September 9th of this year. Jackson is being remanded to the Middlesex County Correctional Facility.

After 25+ years of dedicated service to the Borough of Metuchen Police Department and the residents of the Borough, Captain Michael Kilker officially retired on 10/1/2017. A special thank you and congratulations to Mike on a wonderful career!

On Saturday, September 23rd, Wayne Davis of Metuchen was pulled over for talking on his cell phone while driving. During the course of the stop, a bag of suspect marijuana was found weighing approximately one ounce, as well as 6 suspect oxycodone pills. This arrest led to a search of Davis' home which contained an additional half pound of suspect marijuana that was packaged for distribution.

With Election Day around the corner, please remember that YOUR lawn sign supporting YOUR candidate belongs on YOUR lawn. Any signs, of any nature, that are in the "right of way," will be removed by police officers in an effort to keep the right of way clear. Thanks for understanding.

Police Officers responding to a fire in a residents kitchen today were able to knock it down and keep the fire from spreading. GREAT JOB!

Arrested!! During the course of a surveillance, members of the Metuchen Police Department arrested 28 year old Aaron Jackson of Linden, NJ at 2:34 am this morning as he was entering an unlocked parked car in the driveway of a Spring Street home in Metuchen. Jackson later confessed to dozens of burglaries he committed in both Metuchen and Edison over the past few weeks. Once the booking process is complete, Jackson will be remanded to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center. Thank you to Edison PD for their assistance!

On 08/16/2017 a 27 year old male was arrested after a short pursuit by Metuchen Police. The male was driving a vehicle that was stolen out of Woodbridge Township. He was charged with Eluding, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Marijuana. Suspect was later transported to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where he is being held on the above listed charges.

On 08/16/2017 a resident witnessed an individual attempting to gain access to their vehicle on Mayfield Place. Patrol units were able to gather a description from the resident and began searching the area for the suspect. Officers were able to locate the suspect on Harvard Avenue where he was placed under arrest for several active warrants. Residents are reminded to please lock their vehicle doors at all times.

A Robbery occurred on 07/23/2017 at the Quick In Food Store located at 396 Main Street. The owner of the business was assaulted during the robbery and sustained injuries. The suspect stole several Black & Mild cigars along with the victim’s cell phone and charger. Suspect was later apprehended in Newark by NJ Transit Police Department after a description was transmitted to other police agencies by Metuchen Police. Suspect was still in possession of the above mentioned items. He was charged with Robbery and Theft by Metuchen Police. Suspect was later transported to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where he is being held on the above listed charges.

National Night Out is Tuesday, August 1 and is located at the Metuchen Municipal Pool. Metuchen PBA Local 60 members will be giving out free hot dogs. Please come out and enjoy a fun night!

Pedestrian Safety Tips:  -Always cross at corners, within marked crosswalks where available.   -If crossing in other locations, yield the right of way to vehicles. Failure to obey the law carries a $54 fine (court costs additional; C.39:4-32, 33)    -Look left, right and left again before crossing. Watch for turning cars.   -Always walk facing traffic.    -Obey traffic signals, especially “Walk/Don’t Walk.”   -Do not step off the curb abruptly and assume that cars are going to stop. Remain alert!   -Wear reflective clothing when walking at night.   -Stay sober. Walking while impaired greatly increases your chances of being struck.

Metuchen Police participate in 2017 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Two charged in Metuchen car burglaries Chief David Irizarry of the Metuchen Police Department said today that two men have been arrested and charged with multiple car burglaries after a resident discovered his car burglarized around 2:00 AM and alerted police. Nahuel Buonarrigo, 19, of Perth Amboy and Donte Guiste, 18, of Carteret were both charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, three counts of theft of a credit card , one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possessing a controlled dangerous substance. After being alerted to the initial burglary by the Metuchen resident, who discovered his vehicle burglarized, officers responded to the area and observed the two men walking in the area of Coan Place and Amboy Avenue. The males were then stopped and questioned by officers. Officers then located items that were found to be stolen from three different vehicles in the Boro, which included a laptop computer, credit cards and cash. The individuals were also found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance that was prescribed to one of the victims. Both men were then arrested and charged. Buonarrio and Guiste were later transported to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where they are being held on the above listed charges. The investigation is active and is continuing. On 5/7/17 a 21 year old male was arrested on Middlesex Ave. for Driving While Intoxicated. During the course of the investigation on scene, the individual was found to be in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (drugs) and Drug Paraphernalia. In addition to this, Whip It Nitrous Oxide containers were discovered. Despite an extensive search we were unable to locate an ice cream sundae. We were however able to charge the driver with being in possession of Toxic Chemicals in addition to the other charges.
