Pedestrian Safety Tips: -Always cross at corners, within marked crosswalks where available. -If crossing in other locations, yield the right of way to vehicles. Failure to obey the law carries a $54 fine (court costs additional; C.39:4-32, 33) -Look left, right and left again before crossing. Watch for turning cars. -Always walk facing traffic. -Obey traffic signals, especially “Walk/Don’t Walk.” -Do not step off the curb abruptly and assume that cars are going to stop. Remain alert! -Wear reflective clothing when walking at night. -Stay sober. Walking while impaired greatly increases your chances of being struck.

Two charged in Metuchen car burglaries Chief David Irizarry of the Metuchen Police Department said today that two men have been arrested and charged with multiple car burglaries after a resident discovered his car burglarized around 2:00 AM and alerted police. Nahuel Buonarrigo, 19, of Perth Amboy and Donte Guiste, 18, of Carteret were both charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, three counts of theft of a credit card , one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possessing a controlled dangerous substance. After being alerted to the initial burglary by the Metuchen resident, who discovered his vehicle burglarized, officers responded to the area and observed the two men walking in the area of Coan Place and Amboy Avenue. The males were then stopped and questioned by officers. Officers then located items that were found to be stolen from three different vehicles in the Boro, which included a laptop computer, credit cards and cash. The individuals were also found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance that was prescribed to one of the victims. Both men were then arrested and charged. Buonarrio and Guiste were later transported to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where they are being held on the above listed charges. The investigation is active and is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective James Keane of the Metuchen Police Department at (732) 632-8561.
