Fall is Here…Watch for Deer! With deer mating season now underway, the Little Silver Police Department encourages motorists to drive with extra caution and to keep an eye out for animals entering the roadway. Already this year we have had a number of motor vehicle vs. deer collisions. Please remember these quick tips: 1. Slow Down - If you see a deer along the roadway, slow down there are most likely more to follow. 2. Don’t swerve – It is recommended not to swerve to avoid a collision. Swerving may cause you to go into another lane of travel, with a greater potential to strike another vehicle or fixed object where the damage and injury may be greater. 3. Be alert to Deer X-ing” signs. These signs are placed in areas where deer are more likely to be present. 4. If you hit a deer, it is a motor vehicle collision. Therefore, you are to pull over to a safe location, if possible. Contact the local police department, and remain on scene until police arrive.

As always, residents are reminded to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and key fobs from your vehicles, and alert the department if you observe any suspicious activity.
