Shout out to Officer Reyes for making this little Santa's day at Searchlight Church's Trunk-or-Treat event! Mom sent in these photos along with this note: "Please tell her we really appreciated the special attention. London loves meeting females in the field. She’s learning about police and firefighters in school. This was really special for her." www.searchlightchurch.com/treat #LongBranchPD

LBPD proudly supports the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) agreement with FEMA and wishes safe travels to 4 of our officers as they embark on a mission to assist in Puerto Rico. Sgt. Juan H. Vasquez #282, Sgt. Heather Valdes #290, Cpl. Edwin Gomez #276 and Cpl. Julio Delacruz #278 have been approved for a two week assignment in Puerto Rico in response to the hurricane devastation. Acting Police Chief Jason Roebuck recently addressed these officers and the many others who volunteered as follows: "I would like to thank all of you that volunteered to be deployed to Puerto Rico. The response was overwhelming. It was incredible to see how many of you volunteered to leave your families and travel to an area that has been completely destroyed, to help others." Our officers will join the incredible team of many other first responders and organizations who are making this mission possible, including the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey State Police, Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and, of course, FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency #LongBranchPD #NJPride

Recess! Officer Sergio Chaparro regularly visits our local schools and does a walk-through just to make sure everyone is safe, but he also loves to see that they happy. Here he is with a couple students during recess at the Joseph M. Ferraina School. Fun Fact - This is the officer who was featured in the costume last week at the MU Homecoming. #LongBranchPD

We received a really nice email thanking Officers Eskridge and Remedios for their help rescuing a kitten last weekend and we'd like to share: How many people does it take to rescue a kitten from an engine of car? The answer…NINE!! Six pedestrians on scene, one individual on vacation had to be interrupted and two Long Branch Police officers!! The 6 week old grey fluffy kitten, now named Mariah, was successfully rescued from a car engine unharmed. Mariah, would like to say a very special thank you to Officer Remedios, Officer Eskridge and the many concerned citizens for their patience and assistance. Once Mariah is big enough she will be spayed, vaccinated and placed up for adoption via local rescue, www.meowinc.org. For more info on this adorable kitten, you can contact tnr@meowinc.org Thanks Andrea for the photos and email! Best of luck to you Mariah!

Taking a moment today to remember PO Ryan Saberon #22. Ryan Saberon was a little boy who dreamed of becoming a Police Officer. In spite of his battle with cancer, he never gave up. In May of 1998, the members of LBPD made that wish come true for him, swearing him in as a Police Officer, Badge #22. EOW 10/25/1998. Rest in Peace Ryan.
