North Plainfield Police Department News

Chief William Parenti would like to announce that enforcement of the Alternate Side of the Street Parking will resume on Monday, March 12, 2018. This will give residents the weekend to continuing cleaning off the snow from their vehicles. As the police department works in tandem with the North Plainfield Department of Public Works to clear the snow from the streets, residents are reminded that as per New Jersey State statute, 39:4-56.5; vehicles are considered abandoned if they remain on a roadway for more than 48 hours and will be removed at the owner’s expense.

School Closed Friday March 9th For the safety of our staff and students, the North Plainfield Schools will be closed on Friday, March 9. Our Borough is faced with downed trees and wires making walking and driving conditions dangerous for our students, staff, and families. Although our school grounds are cleared, in consultation with Borough officials, we will not be able to open schools tomorrow. A letter will be sent next week indicating the updated calendar as a result of exhausting the allotment of snow days. Please be safe.Michelle Vella, Acting Superintendent of Schools

Fire Hydrants The North Plainfield Fire Department is currently working on shoveling out fire hydrants. This will take time due to the amount of snow that we received, but we will eventually check all hydrants. It would be beneficial if any residents are able to assist by shoveling hydrants that are in front of their homes.

Chief Parenti would like to advise all residents that Alternate side of the Street Parking will now be Suspended till Monday.

School closure! Due to the weather schools will be closed 3/8/2018.

Chief William Parenti would like to remind our residents to NEVER touch down power lines. People are killed every year trying to move or drive through or over downed wires. You must always assume that these wires are live and charged. Call the police immediately if you encounter any down wires or cables and let a professional determine if it's live. The wires that supply service to our homes carry enough electricity to kill you. Take a moment and look at the attached link for more information. Thanks and be safe!

Be aware that alternate side of the street parking is suspended until 48 hours after snowfall ends.
