Forecasts are showing anywhere from 2-4 inches for the storm coming in tonight, just as a reminder all vehicles need to be removed from all municipal streets if snow accumulation reaches 3 inches or more. The Casale lot is still available for parking at a first come first serve basis. Please stop into police headquarters prior to parking to provide the police desk with your vehicle registration and a contact number. Be sure to periodically check weather forecasts and possible outages in the area. The Boro Hall will be available as a warning center if need be. Tonight Snow, mainly after 4am. Steady temperature around 24. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Light and variable wind becoming north 6 to 11 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of around an inch possible. Thursday Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 24. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Windy, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 21 to 26 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

During the holiday season, law enforcement experiences an increase in reported residential burglaries, vehicle burglaries, and auto theft. As a reminder, if you see anything or anyone that is suspicious, please call the Garwood Police Department immediately. To protect your home and personal items please follow these simple safety tips: At home * Keep the doors and windows of your home locked at all times * Keep your garage door closed and locked * Don’t leave bicycles or other valuables unattended or unsecured * Keep your house well lit, preferably with low-voltage or LED lighting * If you are going out of town: * Suspend delivery of your newspaper and mail * Notify your neighbors that you will be gone and leave a contact number * If you have an alarm, set your alarm and notify your alarm company When you park your car * Keep the windows shut and doors locked, remove your keys, and set your alarm * Don’t leave packages or personal items, especially purses, cell phones and laptops in plain view * Don’t park in a desolate area of the parking lot; instead, park in a well-lit area While shopping * Shop with a friend or relative if possible, there is safety in numbers! * Be aware or your surroundings and any strangers lurking nearby * Don’t carry a lot of cash and protect your credit card information from others while you are standing in line or conducting a credit card transaction * Lock your packages in your trunk out of sight. Be aware of anyone watching to see if you walk away from your car. If you notice someone suspicious, call the police immediately. * When you get home, try not to draw attention to the items purchased * Monitor your bank account routinely for unusual activity * Use ATMs during daytime when possible or where plenty of people are around

Packed up and ready to go! Once again thank you all for your generous donations. A little over 400 toys in total were collected for this years Marines' Toys for Tots. Special thank you to Kessler's Corner, ShopRite of Garwood, The Garwood Rest, The Garwood First Aid Squad, and the Garwood Fire Department, for their combined efforts in collecting the donations for this wonderful cause.

With the help of the Garwood Fire Department, Lincoln School and local businesses, The Garwood Rest and Kessler's Corner, The Garwood PBA had a very successful Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive. This event is very special to Sergeant Lewis and Lt Rocco as they have both served honorably in the Marine Corps. Our thanks go out to everyone that help make the holiday season better for those in need. ::UPDATE:: -The Garwood ShopRite at 563 North Ave. and The Garwood Rest at 259 South Ave. are additional designated drop off locatons for any toy donations. - In addition to those that drop off toys at Kesslers Corner upon receiving a 10% discount coupon you will also receive a raffle entry for a chance to win a 43" UHD LED TV. - The Garwood First Aid Squad as well as the Fire Department will be assisting with collecting with toy donations. -On Sunday December 10th the GFD will be doing their Annual Santa Ride and will be collecting any toy donations while they make their stops. -If anyone wishes to make a monetary donation please make all checks payable to "Toys for Tots"
