The Township of Scotch Plains been placed under a Winter Storm Warning effective tonight starting at 10:00 p.m. through 4:00 a.m. on Thursday Morning. For our area, we are currently looking at a 6 inch minimal snowfall with a potential of up to 12 inches. Light precipitation could begin as early as late tonight and increase through the early morning hours. The forecast calls for increasing snowfall amounts starting mid-morning Wednesday and continuing into the evening with 1-2 inch snowfall amounts/hour possible at times. Winds will not be as strong as they were with the last storm but there will be winds sustained between 20-30 mph with gusts 35-45 mph which does lead to a potential of trees, branches and power lines down. As with most coastal storms, the exact track of the storm is still uncertain and with that, total amounts of snowfall can change up and down.

The municipal building will be closed at 2pm today due to the weather.

** Weather Advisory ** Be aware of possible heavy precipitation, high winds, downed power lines and icing conditions later in the day as a winter storm passes through the area.

This is a great event, please share if you know someone who might be interested in participating.
