Making friends and discussing policing with the Philadelphia Police Department Mounted Unit at International Association Chiefs of Police conference.

We are excited to be giving four presentations at this year's International Association of Chiefs of Police conference.

Stand True for Red, White and Blue Day - A message from our friends at Stand True 4 Blue: Dear Friend, I would like to invite you to join us as we honor all the First Responders who have worked tirelessly to render aid to our hurting nation during the recent hurricanes, shooting, and fires. These brave men and women in uniform have demonstrated what it means to put others first. It is evident that they are weary and are in need of encouragement. What better way to encourage them and show them that we see them and appreciate them, than by standing together visually. We aim to do this by asking Americans in each state to decorate their homes, businesses, schools, and churches with red, white and blue ribbons and signs of thanks. Please see the attached flyer and video about the Stand True for Red, White and Blue Day, which will be held on October 30, 2017. This information has been sent across the country and we feel confident that our First Responders will be encouraged when they see our beautiful nation standing together in appreciation for them. If you feel compelled to pass this on it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Valerie Jameson President Stand True 4 Blue standtrue4blue.com (Stand True 4 Blue is a non-profit that supports our department immensely. Any help you may be able to provide to them is greatly appreciated.) https://video214.com/play/ezkdWKpwvgyNajmOJ5pOZQ/s/dark

Did you know that October 15th (Sunday) is White Cane Safety Day? It was established in 1964 to help spread awareness concerning visual impairments in our Nation. Video: https://youtu.be/sWrrGadn6u4

Enjoy the most photographed event, great opening day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. See Something, Say Something - be aware of suspicious behavior in public places, as well as the importance of reporting it to law enforcement.

Please join us today for Coffee with a Cop from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Starbucks, 11321 Montgomery (Montgomery and Juan Tabo). The Albuquerque Police Department’s Foothills Area Command Police and Community Together (PACT) Team and Starbucks invite the public to come have a cup of coffee and discuss policing in our city. Starbucks will be providing free coffee and APD officers will be on hand to answer questions, listen to concerns and create an even better sense of community. The officers at this event work directly in the Foothills Area Command and are part of the specialty unit focused specifically on community policing. Coffee with a Cop helps to build community through casual conversation and a relaxed atmosphere. The goal is to facilitate open discussion and create a stronger sense of partnership.

Substation Closure Notice: Starting Monday (9/25/17) the APD Foothills Substation (12800 Lomas Blvd.) will be CLOSED to the public for 2 weeks for remodeling. During that time, the James Dwyer Substation (12700 Montgomery) will be open to the public during regular business hours.

"Just now Khloe saw a police officer as we are walking out of Chili's. Of course, she tells him how her Nino is a police officer and how she is going to be one for Halloween. Officer Simon went above and beyond and not only stopped to talk with her, but took a picture and gave her a big stuffed animal from the back of his squad car. Moments like this make me so happy! So thankful to be apart of this wonderful blue family! #BackTheBlue" -Brittany G.

Thank you and Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers for the help! Melissa Willis has been arrested by Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office

"Beep, Beep" - We made a new friend today who was very curious about our cruisers.
