The original post of the picture circulating on social media stems from a school in Virginia known as Monticello High School. We have contacted APS and made them aware of the situation. The Albuquerque Police Dept. is currently looking into this, but at this time we do not believe this to be a credible threat. This photo is circulating in high schools across the country with the initials MHS. APD takes any threat seriously and followed all proper protocols to verify that there is no current threat to Manzano High School. Since the safety and well-being of Albuquerque students is a priority, additional APS officers will be at Manzano today to make certain all students are safe and secure.

#ThrowbackThursday to a message we received in September. Interactions like this brighten an officers' day immensely. "I wanted to send a message of thanks to you, and a member of APD specifically, but I do not know his name. I know how busy each of you are, and the amount of things you have to handle every day, so my gratitude is indescribable for what this gentleman did for my son. My four year old loves policemen; he wants to be an officer when he gets older, he is an officer every Halloween, and loses his mind anytime one of you says hi! So you can imagine how excited he was that this officer let him sit on his motorcycle, and turn on the siren! Just a simple walk to pick up his sissy, turned into the highlight of his year. Thank you. So very much."
