This morning approximately at 0022hrs Sgt. Snell observed a male, later identified as Mark Swank of Cicero operating a Gray Jeep in the Burdick Lexus parking lot. Swank stopped the Jeep and entered an unlocked Lexus SUV and removed a debit card from the vehicle. Upon approaching, Swank refused to comply with commands, jumped in the Jeep and speed off through the parking lot. After a brief pursuit Swank fled on foot through the parking lot. At 0046 hrs CPD found Swank hiding under a Nissan SUV in a parking lot in front of the Drivers Village Used Car Warehouse. Further investigation revealed that the Jeep he was operating was registered to Driver’s village and was stolen earlier in the night (at approximately 1900 hrs) from near the old Burlington. He was subsequently charged with 2 counts of Grand Larceny 4th, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the 2nd , AUO in the 2nd, and Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order

Today Sgt James Snell is presenting active shooter training to all Town of Cicero employees. The Town of Cicero is taking a proactive approach and developing and updating all active shooter plans.

The new Chick Fil A is scheduled to open on February 22nd. We strongly encourage all southbound traffic on Brewerton Road, not stopping at the restaurant, stay in the right lane. Traffic in the north bound lane, not stopping at the restaurant, stay in the left lane. We anticipate heavy traffic from the 22nd-25th. CPD and Chick Fil A staff have developed a traffic plan to move vehicles in and out as quickly as possible. CPD Officers will be providing traffic control and there will be sufficient signage to direct vehicles. We ask all those visiting the new restaurant to be be patient and courteous to other drivers. This is a great addition to our community.
