De Witt Police Department News

Members of the Town of DeWitt Police Department participated in the annual Shop with a Cop event! The DeWitt Police PBA donated funds along with the Manlius Police Department and the Jamesville DeWitt Middle School. The children from the DeWitt school districts were chosen by the school principals and counselors to shop with the police officers who helped them purchase gifts for their families for the holidays. The children and officers had a great time. Shop with a Cop is one of the most rewarding events that we are proud to be a part of !

Weekly Arrests:

A member of the Town of DeWitt Police Department attended Manlius Pebble Hill's driver education night! The Officer spoke about the consequences of drinking and driving. A few of the students volunteered to use our Fatal Vision Goggles and performed some of the field sobriety tests. Thank you to all that attended!

A member of the Town of DeWitt Police Department went to the Nottingham Retirement Home and spoke about burglary prevention with the residents!

Members of the Town of DeWitt Police Department enjoyed playing football with the boys and girls in their community!

The Town of DeWitt Police department wanted to thank the residents who attended coffee with a cop! A big thank you to Wegmans for hosting and donating coffee to the event!

The DeWitt Police Department would like to invite the residents of the Town of DeWitt to have "coffee with a cop." Members of the Town of DeWitt Police Department will be at Wegmans located at 6789 East Genesee Street on 12/2/2017 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. This event will allow the residents to interact with the Police Officers that patrol their community. Hope to see you there!

Members of the Town of DeWitt Police Department participated in the craft fair at St. Matthews School. The Officers had a great time creating CHILD ID cards and interacting with families!

The DeWitt Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred on 11/06/2017 between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Lewis Ave. We are unable to provide any specific details regarding the burglary because it is an open investigation. We are asking that if anyone knows any information regarding this burglary to please report it to the DeWitt Police Department.

A member of the Town of DeWitt Police Department participated in a girl scout meeting on 11/07/2017 at Moses DeWitt. The girl scouts made the Town of DeWitt Police Officers survival kits! Each kit included 9 pieces of candy, and each candy represented an aspect of law enforcement. A BIG thank you to Dawn Mill's and the girl scouts for letting us participate in your meeting!

On 11/04/2017 a member of the Town of DeWitt Police Department created CHILD ID cards at the DeWitt Community Library.

On 11/04/2017 at 12:52 PM, members of the DeWitt Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Route 298 near Aspen Park Blvd. A car had gone off the road, striking a telephone pole. The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Route 298 between Fremont Road and Aspen Park Blvd will be closed until approximately 6:00 PM as National Grid works to replace the damaged pole.

Members of The Town of DeWitt Police Department will be at the DeWitt Community Library today creating CHILD ID cards! We will be there from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm! Look forward to seeing you there.

Members of the Town of DeWitt Police Department collected cans and bottles to donate to the Carol M. Baldwin breast cancer research fund of CNY. A big thank you to Laurence Segal who helped make this event possible!

On October 30th 2017 a member of the DeWitt Police department attended Malloween at Shoppingtown Mall. She had a great time interacting with families by handing out candy and discussing safety tips for trick or treating! She also had excellent "back up" from some children who dressed as police officers!

The DeWitt Police Department would like to remind residents that from November 1st through April 1st between 2:00 am and 6:00 am there is no parking on the street. This allows time for the Town of DeWitt Highway department to clear the streets of any snow. Thank you!
