Galion Police Department News

The Taylor Road composting facility will be open Tuesday from 7:30 am - 2:30 pm for residents to drop off limbs and yard waste. It is located at 545 Taylor Road in Galion. The facility will also be open on its regularly scheduled weekend, Nov. 17 and 18. The Service Department will do limited curbside pickup as man power allows. Limbs and yard waste ONLY will be accepted. Please have materials piled near the curb.

We are aware of all of the power outages, we do not know at this point if a tornado touched down, but we have very heavy damage and homes and businesses destroyed. Please be patient, the Line Dept is working as fast as they can to get everything restored. We also have the Red Cross coming in to assess the damages, they will be letting us know if they are setting up a shelter. We recommend that people NOT be out driving around due to trees and power lines down as well as flooded streets.

Happy Halloween from Galion PD

There are several different scams going around right now. The most recent one that we are getting calls about is residents receiving moneygrams or money orders in the mail. The one that we received today was a CVS moneygram made out to the resident from The Runner Shop. There are a couple of ways to tell if the money gram is fake: there is a stopsign on the front that if you rub it the mark should disappear and there is no watermark on the moneygram. They are mailed in a US Postal white envelope. If you receive anything suspicious in the mail, you can either dispose of it or bring it up to the police department and have someone look at it. Please be cautious of any mailings or phone calls that you might receive.

As of 0548 am on 10/10/2017 Pioneer Career and Technology Center will be on a 2 hr delay.

Trick-or-Treat will be Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 2-4pm.

South St. from Wood to Dawsett will be closed for the majority of the day today, Sunday, Oct 1., due to a fire. Please avoid this area.

We are requesting the public’s help in identifying this man. If anyone knows who he is, please contact GPD either via FB (you can remain anonymous through messenger) or by phone. He was riding a small BMX bike. Officer Johnson needs to speak to this subject. Thank you in advance for the help!

Great job to all involved!!!

We would like to send a huge "Thank You" to the 4th grade students at Central Elementary in Lexington for making and bringing sack lunches to the Police and Fire departments for 9-11. We appreciate you!!

PLEASE DO NOT CALL 911 TO ASK WHEN POWER WILL BE BACK ON!! We are aware that there are still some outages, there have been people working on it all night and they will have it restored as soon as possible. We do not have a time frame at this point.

*****UPDATE***** The train is now moving, we hope it continues to do so! There is currently a train blocking Harding Way East. We are working with CSX at this time. Please avoid the area if at all possible as traffic is very backed up.

Several streets have no parking signs posted for 8/22 and 8/23. The company will be around sealing cracks that are in the streets for the next couple days. Please do not park on the streets so they have room to work. Thank you

We have received many calls in reference to an incident that was to have occurred in Morrow County last night. This is the most recent update from the Morrow County Sheriff.
