**TRAFFIC ALERT** The Village of Kirtland Hills has alerted our City that Chillicothe Rd. will be closed on Tuesday, November 7 until Tuesday, November 28. The closure begins at the intersection of Chillicothe and Little Mountain and extends to Baldwin Rd. Baldwin Rd. will remain open. The closure is necessary to repair drainage and repave that section of Chillicothe Rd. The suggested detour is Little Mountain north to Route 84. SAFETY ALERT: Kirtland Music Program Tag Day, Saturday, November 4!!! Please be alert for students going door to door while driving around town on Saturday. Also, do not be alarmed when students come knocking at your door in their marching band and choir uniforms! Kirtland High School students will be going door to door sharing information about the Kirtland Band and Choir programs while asking for contributions to the Kirtland Music Program. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Again, please watch for students going house to house while driving on Saturday.

The City of Kirtland will be having Trick or Treat Tuesday, October 31 from 6pm to 8pm. If you are participating in this event please turn on your porch lights so families will know which houses are participating. As always, use caution driving and walking that evening. Please have fun, but be safe!

SCAM ALERT!! Please be alert and share this information with friends and family and especially the elderly. Scammers are calling residents and the elderly asking for money to, "help get your grandchild out of jail". They prey on emotions to have you send money for the grandchild to be released from jail or some other need for money for the child's safety. ALSO-PHONE SPOOFING- Please be alert for phone calls where the caller ID is showing local 256 numbers or your cell phone first 6 numbers. Also-there have been occasions where the caller ID has local businesses, personal Kirtland phone numbers and other numbers that are not legitimate. Please file a complaint with the FCC to help document and stop these calls from occurring. If you have any questions you can call KPD non-emergency phone number at 440-256-3333.

UPDATE: The Subway at 9264 Chillicothe Rd. Kirtland, had an attempted robbery on 10-10-17 around 9:00pm. No one was injured and no weapon was reported during the attempt. The suspect is described as a white male, 5feet 5-6inches tall, early 20's wearing a black hoodie and wearing a ski mask. The suspect fled the scene with no known direction of travel and no accomplice was seen. TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 306 will be blocked for a short period today, Wednesday September 27, from 6:35 pm to around 7:00pm at Maple Street to the South driveway next to the stadium. The Hornet Homecoming parade and bonfire will occur with the parade stepping off at 6:45 and a bonfire following in the back fields. This event is for the entire community where music, concessions and a bonfire will be held!!! Shuttles will be provided for those unable to walk up the hill to the back fields. Go Hornets!

Also happening in Kirtland this weekend the Folk Festival at the Unitarian Church on Chillicothe Rd. and the huge outdoor sale at Century Home Antiques also on Chillicothe Rd.

If you are traveling in the area of Euclid Chardon Rd and Chillicothe Rd expect heavy delays due to the Village Peddler being at Lake Farmpark today and tomorrow. Also, you can use the alternate driving route of going down Kirtland Chardon Rd. to Sperry Rd. to Euclid Chardon Rd.

Saturday July 29, 2017 Historic Kirtland will host its fifth annual 5K Run. Starting at 8:00am there will be a short time that roads will be closed. KPD will be closing and opening roads as the race progresses. The course is run as follows: Course: The 5K race will begin on Chillicothe Road near the side entrance of Historic Kirtland; turn left onto Rt. 306; turn right onto Maple; enter Kirtland temple grounds; turn left onto Rt. 306; enter Historic Kirtland; right onto Chillicothe Road; turn left into entrance of Isaac Morley Farm; run the “turn around;” turn right onto Chillicothe Road; enter Historic Kirtland at Chillicothe Road entrance to finish line. Kirtland Hills will be closing 615 between Baldwin and Garfield road during the race.

**** Kirtland Police Training Notification *** On 7/25 from 7p.m. to 10 p.m. KPD will have the Swat Team from Western Lake County using Kirtland Schools facilities for training purposes. The training session will be held in the KHS building and possibly throughout the other buildings.
