Reminder for tonight: the MOPAR cruise in is underway. The cruise route starts at TriCounty Dodge and proceeds into Buckeye Lake to the KOA. There will be no Cruise in parking permitted in the Southgate shopping center or Southgate Plaza. Please drive safely and obey all traffic laws.

As a reminder today starts the Mopar weekend. Although the event is at the National Trail Raceway traffic will become heavier in the evening in the Heath area. Saturday is the Mopar Super Cruise on SR 79 starting at TriCounty Dodge and go south to Buckeye Lake KOA campground with stops along the way. Traffic will be at it's heaviest during this time.

Scam alert Poltential victims have reported that credit card scammers have called stating that there was someting wrong with their credit card. The caller then asked about or for banking information. The falsely generated caller id showed Heath Police Department. The Heath Police Department will not ask you for your banking information, credit card numbers, saving account numbers, or other critical information over phone calls. If you ever doubt a recieved call is from the Heath Police Department, disconnect and call the police department at 740 522-2141. You can then be confident you are speaking to our department. The city of Heath received notice that starting early in the morning on Sunday, July 30th, Irving Wick Dr. W will be ENTIRELY CLOSED on either side of the Keller Dr. intersection, as well as the southern part of Keller Dr., for roadway repairs. NO TRAFFIC will be allowed to pass through this area until Tuesday, August 8th at the earliest. This will allow for pavement to be laid, and concrete to harden around manhole aprons in the street.

Update on Fruad alert. With the assistance of our community and information relayed through this site we were able to identify the individuals that were soliciting donations. The people identified were soliciting donations for the March of Dimes Night moves race in Columbus. Those identified have been directed to register for a solicitation permit with Heath Police Department. Attached is the information related to the March of Dimes event. The Heath Police Department is aware that there are several traffic lights not working along SR79. There is a reported power outage effecting the traffic lights, home and businesses in the area. AEP has been notified and are currently working on a solution. Please treat all intersections with non-working lights as a 4 way stop. Use caution and be patient.

NOTIFICATION OF A POSSIBLE SCAM IN THE CITY OF HEATH: The Heath Police Department was informed of a possible scam that took place in our city last night. Residents stated a female who appeared to be ten years old knocked on their door. There was an adult male who was with her but stood several feet away from her. The little girl told residents that she was collecting money for a "Baby Run" event. She described it as a 5K run that would take place in the City of Heath, and stated that all donations would be donated to a preemie fund. The Heath Police Department is not aware of this event nor is the Mayor's Office. The female was described as a white female, with dark hair who appeared to be apx ten years of age. The male was described as apx 6 ft, dark hair, thin build, possibly has a beard. We encourage the residents of Heath to contact the Heath Police Department at 740-522-2141 when solicitor's are in your neighborhoods. All solicitors are required to obtain a Solicitor's Permit, officers will typically attempt to identify the individuals upon their arrival.

There will be a lost child booth near the restrooms. You can also register your child if they become lost so a parent can be located if they are found.

Tonight is the Heath Star Spangled Celebration at Geller Park. As a reminder pets and fireworks are not permitted in the park. Also do not cross the orange fencing as this is a secured area. Traffic will be heavy during this event and we ask that you be patient as we work to get everyone out once the event is over. We hope you come out and enjoy this year's event and have a happy and safe 4th of July.

The funeral services for Kirkersville, Ohio Police Chief Steven Eric DiSario, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on Friday, May 12, 2017, are as follows: Funeral services for Chief DiSario will be held on the campus of Grove City Church of the Nazarene located at 4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio, at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery located at 6440 S. High St. Lockbourne, Ohio. For agencies wishing to be part of the processional to the cemetery, we are asking that you arrive at the church at 8:30 A.M.and follow the directions of the Columbus Division of Police Motor Unit. Everyone attending the service must be seated by 9:30 A.M. in order to prevent delays in starting the service promptly at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive friends and acquaintances 4-8 P.M. on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene located at 4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio.

The Heath Police Department has recently been notified of a text message received for a fund raiser at the Heath City Pool. The fund raiser was for Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and was requesting personal information. At this time The City of Heath has no record of this event. At any time do not provide anyone with any personal information via text message or over the phone without knowledge of who they are.

A memorial fund has been set up at Park National Bank for Chief Disario’s family. If you would like to donate you can do so at any Park National Bank branch in the account labeled DISARIO FAMILY MEMORIAL FUND.
