At tonights council meeting Mark Cerda was sworn in as a part time police officer. Officer Cerda brings 16 years of law enforcment experience to the department.

UPDATE. Dogs have been returned to their owner. Found in the area of Second and Columbus in Holland. If you know where they belong call 419-213-4977 so we can get them home.

The Village of Holland is accepting resumes for the position of part time police officer. Starting pay is $10.82 while in field training. After field training pay goes to $16.62 and tops out at $19.22 in five steps. Resumes may be dropped off Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m. or mailed to 1245 Clarion Ave. Holland Ohio 43528. All applicants must be OPOTA certified.

This unknown person slipped a bottle of tequila in his coat at the Kroger in Holland. Normally we wouldnt post someone on here stealing a cheap bottle of booze but when the clerk confronted the thief he obviously denied it. She then pushed on the bulge in his coat and told him to just give it back. Thats when he told her that it was not a bottle, but it was a gun. She then retreated back into the store and reported it. UPDATE: SUSPECT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AND CHARGES ARE PENDING.This guy went into kroger tonight and after loading a cart with $428.32 worth of groceries, he decided to leave with out paying. He ran when stopped by kroger loss prevention personell. He was with two females that also had loaded a cart but decided not to try to leave with it after this suspect was stopped. On 02/17/2017 Holland Police were contacted in reference to an identity theft. The victim advised a credit card that was attached to their bank account was used at the Walmart in Holland Ohio on 02/14/2017. During the investigation it was found that an unknown male wearing a gray and red ball cap and a gray and blue sweat shirt with blue pants had used a cloned credit card with the victims banking information. The unknown male suspect left Walmart in a newer model GMC Yukon or Chevy Suburban black in color. Update: female has been identified, thank you all for your help. On 2/20/17 these two unknown suspects walked out of the Holland Kroger with a $379 mixer. They left in a silver two door Chevy Cavalier with stolen plates on it. Congratulations to Officer Growden for completing the five day Crisis Intervention Team training. Every Holland officer has had this training to help better handle people with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.

This unknown suspect was cought stealing from Walmart but when confronted by Walmart security she turned and attacked him with her child still in her arms. She bit the officer breaking the skin and requiring medical attention. If anyone knows who she is, we would like to have a word with her.
