Tipp City Police Department News

Chief Burris has temporarily waived the policy preventing male police officers from growing facial hair for the month of November in an effort to raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes! An officer may "save the blade" during November by donating to JDRF! Many officers have gone their whole careers with no choice but to shave on days in which they work. As you can imagine, it is with great enthusiasm that this campaign has kicked off and for a very worthy cause! Not to worry if a short beard is not your preference, officers will be clean shaven by December 1st! Let us know what you think in the comments below! Also, take a moment to visit the JDRF website for more information on type 1 juvenile diabetes and how you might be able to help. http://www.jdrf.org/

The suspect in the photos below is believed to be responsible for thefts from Menards in Tipp City on at least five occasions. The dollar amount of items stolen has reached the felony level. The suspect is approximately six feet tall and has been seen in a red van leaving the scene on each occasion. While his clothing has varied each time, the shoes have remained the same on every offense. We ask that the public view these images and if you believe you may know the suspect, or recognize the red van, please call Detective Tony Smith at (937) 667-3112 . If you feel more comfortable, you can also leave a tip at the department’s tip line at (937) 667-7820 or email at tippcitypolice@tippcity.net

Please help us welcome the newest member of the Tipp City Police Department, Parrish Brazel! Parrish comes to us with a long history in Miami County and the surrounding area and was most recently employed by the Miami County Sheriff's Office. Parrish is seen here with her husband, Bob. Welcome aboard, Parrish!!

Tipp City Police Officers have spent part of this week being photographed for a collage that will hang on the walls of the department. Needless to say, Officer Bob was the most challenging for Sharon Elaine Photography!!

Very cool video of Tipp City police officers, and other departments, conducting pursuit and maneuverability training! Special thanks to Sgt Marc Basye for putting this on each year!

Have you noticed an increased presence of police officers at Tippecanoe High School and Tippecanoe Middle School? Both schools have successfully completed the first in a series of three school safety drills the district is required to participate in each year. Kudos to the students and staff for their courage and cooperation while completing this state mandate. We only have Broadway Elementary, Nevin Coppock Elementary, and LT Ball Intermediate left (in no particular order 😁!) Have a GREAT week!

Do you know me? Found near Tipp Top Auto Sales on 25A at 571. Please call 937-667-3112 if you have any information.

Officer Adam Grubb is up early and ready for the solar eclipse! The Tipp City Police Department does not have viewing glasses on hand but we are happy to share the one or two pairs we do have! Feel free to join us on August 21st starting at 2:00PM (weather permitting) in the police department parking lot. Remember, do not look directly at the sun, even during a partial eclipse, without protective eye wear!

The Miami County Communication Center is hiring!! See link for details! http://www.miamicountyohio.gov/DocumentCenter/View/12463

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of one of our own. Recently retired K9 Gitta developed medical conditions that could not be overcome and she passed away at 6:30 pm last evening. Special thanks to Dr. Martin English and Dr. Johnna Smith here in Tipp City, as well as Dr. Erin Kalo from Stoneyridge Veterinary Service in Troy. We appreciate the compassionate care she was given right up until the end. Gitta was a fantastic dog with a superb record of drug seizures. She served Tipp City from 2008 to 2016 and was 11 years old. Our thoughts are with Sgt. Greg Adkins and his family as they deal with the loss of this four-legged hero. Anyone who has ever lost a pet can understand this kind of loss; however, there seems to be an even closer bond between a K9 handler and their partner.

Join us tonight (7/18/2017) at 7pm in the Tipp City Government Center Conference Room for a class on Heroin and Opioid Awareness. The class is presented by Sgt. Greg Adkins, Det. Tony Smith and our K9 Officer Darren Soutar. These officers are very knowledgeable and are willing to help. This is a non-judging, learning environment. We even hope to have someone in the room to discuss their personal battle with this terrible addiction. None of us like it, but Heroin is here in Tipp City. Officers see it's effects more frequently all the time. Please come out and help us try to curb this epidemic. If you have a family member or loved one that needs help we may be able to provide some resources. Knowledge is power!

For those residents headed to the City Park July 4th for Tipp City's annual fireworks display, please remember to arrive early in order to get a good spot for viewing. As usual, the fireworks display will start at 10pm. Please bring an extra dose of patience along with your patriotism. It takes about 25 minutes to get all of the cars out of the park after the show. In an effort to speed the process, this year we will be routing some cars onto N. Third St. via a short section of the bike path just north of the Aquatic Center. This will allow two exits from the park rather than just one. Again, thank you for your patience and please remember to watch for pedestrians. Enjoy the Show!

Ms Dungan's warrant has been recalled. Thank you to everyone who called, messaged, or otherwise contacted the Tipp City Police Department regarding her whereabouts!

June 23rd is National Bring Your Dog to Work Day! Today we are reminded of all Police Officer-K9 duos around the country! Thank you for your service!
