The Ravenna Police Department would like to remind everyone not to drink and drive on St. Patrick's Day! Remember Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. We will be conducting extra enforcement throughout this year's St. Patrick's Day holiday actively looking for impaired drivers. *Always remember to plan ahead. If you plan to drink, plan for a sober driver to take you home. If it's your turn to be the designated driver, take the role seriously--your friends and other drivers are relying on you. *Remember that it is never okay to drink and drive. Even if you've had only one alcoholic beverage, designate a sober driver or plan to use an alternate method of transportation to get home safely.

Recently the Ravenna Police Department completed practical training in the job areas of building searches and mechanical breeching. The house the training was conducted in was located on Summit Road was uninhabited and getting ready to be torn down. The Ravenna Police Department would like to extent a special thanks to Jennifer Robison and NDS of Portage County for providing a house for a training site.

The time is changing......Change your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries too!

MARCS System portable 2-way radios generously donated to The Ravenna Police Department by The Ohio Turnpike Commission will have a welcome and significant impact on our communications capabilities. Our police department manages The City of Ravenna Communications Dispatch Center serving not only The City of Ravenna Safety Services, but also 8 other fire/EMS departments. In the interest of communications interoperability and the improved reliability of the MARCS System, we anticipate the distribution of the MARCS portable 2-way radios to immediately enhance our operations. We are deeply grateful to The Ohio Turnpike Commission for the 2-way radio equipment they provided. As we make improvements to our communications center, this donation moves us much closer to our interoperability goals. Thank you Ohio Turnpike Commission !
