On November 10, 2017 at approximately 11am the New Philadelphia Police SRT assisted the Dover Police Department in conducting a search warrant at a suspected drug house on West 11th St. The SRT is made up by members of the New Philadelphia Police, Fire, and Dover Officers. School Resource Officer Jennifer Horner held a poster contest at New Philadelphia Welty Middle School 7th Grade Health Class for the Month of October Drug Awareness Month - the following posters are the 1st - 2nd -3rd & 4th Place Winners !! Thank you Judges & Officer Horner!!!

We are currently asking for help in locating the following subjects. Anyone having information is asked to contact the police department at (330) 343-4488. These 2 subjects were stopped yesterday 10-25-17 at Kohls for Shoplifting and subsequently served summons for misdemeanor theft. We have since learned that these subjects provided Social Security numbers that belonged to their brothers in order to conceal their actual identities. The male subject with the black hat and white sunglasses is Andrew M. Willis 28 yr old male. Willis is wanted on misdemeanor warrants out of New Philadelphia Municipal Court and a felony warrant out of Franklin County for Robbery. The male subject with the Camo colored shirt and tan colored ball cap is Tanner M. Perry 22 yr old male. Perry is wanted out of New Philadelphia Municipal Court on multiple warrants. On October 16th near midnight the New Philadelphia Police department initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle. The driver of the car was arrested for two outstanding warrants. During the inventory of the car, officers located $2100.00, and 23 Xanax pills. Detectives began an investigation, and interviewed the driver. He admitted that he sells Xanax and marihuana to support his habit, and to help his mother pay bills. Detectives obtained a search warrant for his residence. During the search 4 ounces of marihuana, over 2100 Xanax pills and other drug related items (suspected cocaine) were seized along with a loaded AR-15. Charges are pending against the driver and roommate with possession over bulk amounts of Xanax. Chief Michael Goodwin

Come see us tonight at the open house which runs in conjunction with the New Philadelphia Fire open house. We will open the station to the public from 5p-8p. There will be cotton candy for the kids along with other fun activities. See a demonstration from our very own K9 Pete and his handler Sgt. Pierce. We will be giving tours of the station and jail. Kids can sit in a police car, get their photos with various New Philadelphia Police Officers and even look inside the Special Response Team vehicle and see the various equipment our SRT members wear and use. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 2, 2017 NORAD to conduct exercises in Northern Ohio PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – North American Aerospace Defense Command will conduct exercise flights today as they practice intercept and identification procedures. The flights will occur between New Philadelphia and Toledo Executive Airport, Ohio, between 2-5 p.m. EDT. Although they are scheduled to begin in the afternoon, the flights could be delayed for 24 hours or cancelled due to weather concerns. People between New Philadelphia and Toledo Executive Airport, Ohio, may hear and/or see low-flying NORAD-controlled fighter jets in close proximity to civilian aircraft, which will be taking on the role of an aircraft of interest. In order to test responses, systems and equipment, NORAD continuously conducts exercises with a variety of scenarios, including airspace restriction violations, hijackings and responding to unknown aircraft. All NORAD exercises are carefully planned and closely controlled. NORAD has conducted exercise flights of this nature throughout Canada and the U.S. since the start of Operation Noble Eagle, the command’s response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. NORAD is the bi-national Canadian and American command that provides aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for Canada and the United States. The command has three subordinate regional headquarters: the Alaskan NORAD Region at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; the Canadian NORAD Region at Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg, Manitoba; and the Continental NORAD Region at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.

We would like to officially congratulate Sergeant Randy Williamson on his retirement from the New Philadelphia Police Department after 27 yrs of dedicated service. Sergeant Williamson served many years as a K9 handler and developed our current K9 program. He was also a founding member of our Special Response Team which was started in 2003. Most recently he was the dayshift Sergeant after being promoted in 2010. Again thank you Sgt. Williamson for your dedicated and courageous service to the citizens of New Philadelphia. Jason Feister was taken into custody a short time ago by the New Philadelphia Police, Tuscarawas County Sheriff Office, and the County Probation. As always we appreciate any and all assistance in the apprehension of this male.

The New Philadelphia Police Department is currently accepting applications for substitute crossing guards.. Applications can be picked up at at the Human Resources department in City Hall. They can also be printed off the City of New Philadelphia website.
