On October 16th near midnight the New Philadelphia Police department initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle. The driver of the car was arrested for two outstanding warrants. During the inventory of the car, officers located $2100.00, and 23 Xanax pills. Detectives began an investigation, and interviewed the driver. He admitted that he sells Xanax and marihuana to support his habit, and to help his mother pay bills. Detectives obtained a search warrant for his residence. During the search 4 ounces of marihuana, over 2100 Xanax pills and other drug related items (suspected cocaine) were seized along with a loaded AR-15. Charges are pending against the driver and roommate with possession over bulk amounts of Xanax. Chief Michael Goodwin

Come see us tonight at the open house which runs in conjunction with the New Philadelphia Fire open house. We will open the station to the public from 5p-8p. There will be cotton candy for the kids along with other fun activities. See a demonstration from our very own K9 Pete and his handler Sgt. Pierce. We will be giving tours of the station and jail. Kids can sit in a police car, get their photos with various New Philadelphia Police Officers and even look inside the Special Response Team vehicle and see the various equipment our SRT members wear and use. We are looking forward to a great evening and looking forward to seeing you.

Congratulations Sergeant David Morris on your recent promotion. Keep up the good work serving the residents, and visitor of New Philadelphia.
