Everybody come down to the Lone Grove Fire Department this evening and donate blood.

So far this morning 2-21-18, the roads are mainly just wet with some patchy ice. The rain and sleet just started up again and as long as the temperatures stay before freezing the driving conditions will probably start to deteriorate. Stay safe and drive slow if you have to get out.

Lone Grove Schools is closed tomorrow Wednesday 2-21-2018

We are taking several calls of heavy smoke South of Lone Grove. There is a large fire in Love County and the wind is blowing the smoke over the South part of Lone Grove.

Carter County Burn Ban

We are taking multiple reports of power outages all over town. We are not sure what is causing this. OG&E has been notified. If we find out why we will let you know. UPDATE: 09:10 OG&E has advised they found the problem and are working on getting electric back up.

Everybody please keep updated and alert on the weather and the temperatures this upcoming weekend and next week. This is supposed to be some extremely cold weather, help keep an eye on the elderly during this time and please get your pets some shelter. Also make sure you have your water pipes covered or leave the water dripping in the house and have antifreeze in you vehicles. Now with all that being said I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. Remember don't drink and drive, it is not worth taking the chance!

Trying to save people a trip. WALMART in Ardmore is closed today (Christmas day). They will reopen tomorrow 12-26-2017 at 6am.

Just a reminder, be careful on where you hide your last minute gifts. If you keep them in your car, put them in the trunk or cover them up. Either way make sure to lock your car, most auto burglaries occur on vehicles that are unlocked. Thief's usually take the easy route and try to not make noise unless they see something in your vehicle that they really want. Also after Christmas don't put your boxes on the curb, that is exactly what a thief wants, it is like a sales add for them, telling them what you got. Break the boxes down and haul them off. Lone Grove offers to it's citizens a large dumpster located at city hall, which would be an easy way to get rid of all the Christmas boxes and wrapping paper. All you need to use the dumpster is your Lone Grove water bill. I hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas. Remember please don't drink and drive!

I want to say congratulations to Officer Joshua Berryhill who graduated CLEET today. After 16 long hard weeks of training he finally gets to come back to Lone Grove and protect and serve. Joshua is a fine young man who is going to be a great asset to the Police dept. and the citizens of Lone Grove.

Praying for the OHP Trooper that was hit by a car. This happened in the Moore area. He needs all the prayers he can get

Heaven gained another Angel in Blue today. RIP Gary Huff. I went to CLEET with this man back in 1993 (C93B4) you could not ask for a better man or officer. Gary dedicated his life to his City and County to help protect others and did an outstanding job of it. If you knew Gary, then you knew he would give you the shirt off his back to help you. I later got the chance to hire and work with one of his sons Michael Huff who has also dedicated his life to Law Enforcement and is one of the best officers I know. I know Gary is proud of him as well as all of his kids. Gary paid his dues on Earth and I know he is being rewarded right now for all the long hard hours he has put in to protect the innocent. Fly High My Brother Until I See You Again!!!

What you should do when are making either a right turn or a left turn at at an intersection. A driver is making an improper right turn if the approach for the right turn, or the turn itself is not made as close as practicable to the right curb, or edge of the roadway. An improper left turn on a two-way roadway occurs if the approach for the left turn is not made in the portion of the right half of the roadway nearest to the center line. The turn must be made by passing to the right of the center line where it enters the intersection and after entering the intersection, the left turn must be made so as to leave the intersection to the right of the center line of the roadway being entered. An improper left turn on a road other than a two-way roadway occurs when the driver does not approach the intersection in the extreme left lane lawfully available for traffic. The turn is also improper if after entering the intersection, the turn is not made so as to leave the intersection as nearly as practicable in the left lane lawfully available to traffic moving in such direction upon the roadway being entered. This is covered under Oklahoma Statute Title 47-11-601. Required Position and Method of Turning at Intersections.
