Molalla Police Department News

The police department and city hall had a spooktacular time last night meeting all the ghouls, princesses, cops, jedi, and ninja turtles. If you took a photo with our officers, could you please message them or email them to us? In all the excitement, we only got a few on our own phones and would love to see more.

It's not Thursday, but here are some Halloween throw-backs.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN MOLALLA! We are all ready for our trick-or-treaters tonight. Come by for treats from the Police Department and City Hall (maybe some tricks, too.)

With a new sports season approaching, we wanted to remind everyone that we have $30.00 youth scholarships available to help out. They can be for any sport, activity, or program. 1 per child, per year, no limit on children per household. Must live within the Molalla School District, but can attend any local school or be home-schooled. Call for details or see the link below.

GO INDIANS GO! Good luck at Homecoming!

Corrected version.

What an amazing event: Eclipse 2017. The City Hall and Police Staff got to sneak out and check it out, too. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. (We all wore tin-foil hats)

Please share this.

PRESS RELEASE MOLALLA KIDDIE PARADE, FREEDOM 5K RUN AND GIANT PARADE TRAFFIC IMPACT 2017 Buckeroo week 2017 is just around the corner and here are some important reminders for all to remember, whether or not you plan to participate or attend. The two events that impact traffic flow and accessibility are the Kiddie Parade on Saturday evening, July 1st at 6 pm, and the Giant Street Parade on Tuesday morning, July 4th. Remember, the Giant Street Parade is opened up and preceded by the 5th annual Freedom 5K Run. We are looking forward to great times of celebration this year, but to make things go as efficiently as possible, we must all pay attention to the times for these events and plan ahead to avoid conflicts. Here are the dates and times for the closures: The Kiddie Parade will start at 6pm on Saturday night. Just prior to the start of the parade, streets will begin to close down as the parade progresses. If you wait until the last minute to get to your destination you may have trouble getting there on time. It lasts about an hour and the route is as follows: • SB on N. Cole from Frances St. • WB on Heintz St. to Grange Ave. • SB on Grange to Main St. • WB Main St. to Molalla Ave. • NB Molalla Ave. to Heintz and done. (Participants proceed to disband via Frances or Shirley) The Freedom 5K Run will begin at 9:15 am on Tuesday morning and the Giant Parade will begin as soon as the tail end of the run passes the parade starting point (as close to 9:20 as possible). The run and the parade use the same route. The import thing to understand about the July 4th parade is, because of safety for the runners and walkers, the route cannot be closed down as it progresses. The route must be secure prior to the start and it will close by 9 am without exception. If you live in the core parade area and you have need to leave your home, you should plan to do it by 8:30 am, just to be safe. The parade should last about 2 ½ hours, depending on the number of entries. Here is the route for the run and parade: • The run starts at Eckerd Field and crosses E. Main St. at Cole Ave. • NB on Cole Ave. to Heintz St. (turning in front of parade waiting to begin) • WB Heintz to Grange Ave. • SB Grange Ave. to Robbins St. • WB Robbins St. to Molalla Ave. • NB Molalla Ave. to Toliver Rd. • WB Toliver to Ridings Ave. • SB Ridings Ave. to Main St. • EB Main St. to S. Cole Ave and finished. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. If we all plan ahead, we can make this year’s festivities a wonderful time to remember. Chief Lucich

Volunteer Needed! We are looking for a dedicated and dependable person to be in charge of our radar trailer. The volunteer position would require you to pass a background check and have a valid driver's license. The volunteer would be responsible for towing, placing, and maintaining the radar trailer. By having a volunteer do this, we free up valuable time for the officers to patrol and take calls. Our workman's compensation covers the volunteer while actively working with the radar trailer. The previous volunteer who did this recently had to retire after 9+ years. We hope we can find another wonderful Molalla citizen to take on this task. For information, please email Ronda Lee, call 503.829.8817, or stop by the Police Department.

Congratulations are in order! Officer Robert Call was recently promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Here are a few pictures from his swear-in.

Teens looking for something fun this summer, check this out;

National Night Out 2017 This year, NNO will be held on Tuesday, August 1st from 5pm – 7:30pm located at Sally Fox Park (near library). This Molalla Police Department has organized this city-wide starting in 2005 It’s with great excitement we are going to once again organize this amazing event and be back at Fox Park. As in years past, the theme of NNO for Molalla is Child Safety and Welfare. All participants are to have displays/demonstrations/handouts relating to that topic. We do not allow vendors or individuals to sell products or their services while at the event. However, participants may have business cards or handouts with contact information on it to promote their services/business at a later time. For example; if you were a clown, donating your time to be at NNO, you could pass out your card to interested parties, but your main purpose in being there is to entertain the children. Some of the current participants are; Molalla Fire Department, Molalla Communications (w/free bike helmets), CCSO Sheriff’s Posse, Oregon Humane Society, OR Dept. of Forestry (w/Smokey the bear), National Guard, school busses, Molalla Public Works (w/equipment), and many more! We are asking for help filling booths/displays meeting the previously described conditions. Everyone who participates does so on a voluntary basis, there is no compensation. Our crowds in the past have been as large as 700-800 people. Here is a specific list of who or what we are in need of: • Clown/balloon animals/face painter to provide free services to the general crowd. • Other groups that may want to help promote Child Safety and Welfare. Anyone wanting to have a table or participate needs to contact Ronda Lee with the Molalla Police Department to discuss the details. Prior approval is required. Ronda Lee can be reached at; , 503-829-8817, or stopping into the police station at 117 N. Molalla Ave.

We're hiring. Please take a look on our web page Opening for Sergeant and developing an Officer eligibility list.
