Attention Leesport Boro: Attempt to identify suspicious male: An older male in a small tan sedan approached a juvenile asking if he wanted a blue phone case. The juvenile stated no and walked away. The male followed in the vehicle asking several more times if the juvenile wanted the phone case. The juvenile yelled at the male and ran home. The male drove off toward Schuylkill Ave after cursing at the juvenile. The male did not ask the juvenile to get in the vehicle and we are attempting to ID the driver at this time. The male was described as between 60-70 years of age with a mustache. No other vehicle description could be given but the juvenile stated he has seen the vehicle in the area before. Anyone having any additional information please contact the Northern Berks Regional Police at (610) 926-2999.

March 27, 2018 To Whom It May Concern, This letter serves to notify you that the Berks County Conservation District will conduct mosquito surveillance and West Nile Virus monitoring in your Township/Borough again this year. Surveillance in your area will occur approximately once per month from April 1 through October 31, 2018. Surveillance may occur more often if mosquito populations and/or virus levels elevate and require enhanced monitoring. Both adult and larval mosquito samples will be taken. Larval mosquito control will be conducted on the spot with bacterial-based larvicides. Adult mosquito control will be conducted as needed, based on the level of virus in your area and/or populations of mosquitos capable of transmitting disease. Adult mosquito control is performed using several different methods and equipment, such as backpack sprayers or Ultra Low Volume truck mounted sprayers. All adult mosquito control operations will be announced at least 48 hours prior to the spraying event. I have included images of the types of mosquito trapping devices and control equipment I will be using in your area this year. I encourage you to share these images with members of your staff and local police. All trapping equipment will be tagged with the Berks County Conservation District logo and my contact information. Dead birds will continue to be tested for West Nile Virus this year. Collection dates will run from May 1 through October 31, 2018. Dead birds may be reported directly to me via phone or email or they may be submitted by using the link found on the PA Department of Environmental Protection’s West Nile Virus webpage. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or pass along my contact information at any time. Sincerely, Evan Corondi Mosquito-borne Disease Control Program Coordinator 610-372-4657x212 1238 County Welfare Road, Suite 200 • Leesport, PA 19533 • Tel (610) 372-4657 • Fax (610) 478-7058 •

We at the NBRPD strongly recommend that if your a victim of crime no matter how small that you should file a police report. The report may lead us to the thief and help us catch them before they steal from someone else!!!

‪SCAM ALERT:‬ ‪One of our residents received a phone call from a "no caller ID" number telling her that her phone was going to be discontinued the following day. She ask why and they told her because she didn't sign her check so her bill was not paid. However if she would get a money order immediately he could stop the disconnect. She told him she thought he was scamming her and hung up. She checked with Frontier telephone and her account is ok.‬ ‪ ‬ ‪She said they knew her name and the fact she had Frontier Telephone. ‬ This is becoming all too common. If you have any doubts hang up and then call your credit card company, bank, credit union, Utility, township or borough, and always when in doubt call the police before you become a victim.
