A reminder from your LPD: Please lock your vehicle, do not keep valuables in the vehicle and keep items that are in the vehicle out of sight In the past week the LPD has received an increase in calls reporting that vehicles were entered and various items removed. This has happened both in the East End and the West side of the town...In all cases the owners thought the cars were locked but they were not!! Lock 'em and double check! If you see something.. say something!! CALL 911!!!

LPD wants to remind everyone about ongoing and continuing telephone scams: DO NOT RELEASE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!!! LPD has also received complaints from residents that they are receiving calls that appear to be from a local or "legitimate" number. These calls are using "spoofed" numbers, tricking your caller ID into making it appear that the call is local, it is NOT. Again, do not engage in conversation or give any information to the caller. Law enforcement cannot trace these calls... You have NOT won the Irish Sweepstakes,or the Michigan Lottery, you were not chosen to handle money for the prince of any foreign country, there is NO merchandise or animals waiting for you at the airport, you DO NOT have an IRS bill that needs attention by phone, and you have not been chosen to cash checks and on and on.. ALL are scams. Residents have also gotten calls claiming that a family member was in police custody and needs bails, or was in a crash and has to pay for damages, or is being held hostage and needs ransom money.. again ALL SCAMS preying upon people's good nature and fears.. Also that person who you "met" through some online source and wants to be the love of you life, but is busy in some exotic location and just needs some money forwarded to them so they can stay in touch with you??? SCAM.. Please pass this on to friends and family...Be Safe, keep your information PRIVATE.

UPDATE.. Thanks for the calls and information.. this beautiful pup is back at home with her family.

LPD is asking Lansford residents for cooperation with the following Ordinances: The repair of vehicles on Borough streets is PROHIBITED. You cannot replaced brakes, exhausts or.. other major components. Also you cannot change oil or other fluids. You MAY add fluids, change lights or wipers, change a flat tire... From this point forward, Officers have been directed to file the appropriate citations on blatant /serious violators You CANNOT drive,or ride off-road vehicles, such as ATVs, UTVs or dirt bikes on the Borough streets. The LPD has always been understanding when people were crossing a road to enter a wooded area etc; apparently this understanding has been taken for granted and subjects are riding throughout the Borough streets. Please power walk or simply cross from one side of the street to the other in order to access the woods...Those who ride through town on streets, Officers will NOT chase, but will follow up and file all appropriate charges on these blatant violators. Thanks for your anticipated cooperation!

Some of Lansford's Public Works dept on the job in the heat: Workers are cleaning storm sewer inlets along Patterson street as part of preparation for a major PennDot rebuilding project on Patterson street. Also workers sealing the new asphalt and starting line painting..notice the return to the addition of painting the curbs yellow to clearly indicate the "No Parking" area. Great job! (the other crew members were cutting grass when these were taken)

Asking for the publics assistance. We are trying to identify the vehicle and its operator depicted in this photograph. The vehicle was involved in a FELONY criminal mischief incident on July 13, 2017 in Lansford Borough. Vehicle is believed to be a white Nissan , possibly a Pathfinder. What looks like a decal in the rear window might just be a reflection... Anyone with tips or information about this vehicle, or vehicles similar to this please contact our department at 570-645-5844. All tips will remain anonymous.
