**SCAM ALERT** We have received several reports of someone claiming to be from the IRS attempting to solicit money over the telephone. Typically, scammers request payments in the form of gift cards or moneypaks. Also, several reports of phone calls showing up as “Renovo PD” on caller IDs, but with an incorrect number. This is a technique called “spoofing”. In both cases, please do not give any personal information over the telephone. We can be reached through the 911 Communications Center at (570) 923-2268.

*** SNOW EMERGENCY *** Due to the impending snowstorm, a SNOW EMERGENCY will be in effect from 4:00 A.M. Wednesday through 4:00 A.M. Thursday for both Renovo Borough and South Renovo Borough. Please assure that all vehicle are removed from S.R. 120 and S.R. 144 by no later than midnight tonight. Violators may be ticketed and towed. Also, please assure that sidewalks are properly cleaned and snow is not to be shoveled/plowed or otherwise moved in to the street, per local ordinance. This will be enforced.

We have received multiple reports of someone claiming to be an employee of PP&L Electric, calling local businesses and threatening to shut off power almost immediately if a certain payment is not made via MoneyPak or use of other gift cards. Total losses are approximately $3,000.00. This is a SCAM. Please alert your friends, family and neighbors.

***UPDATE*** Matthew W. WADSWORTH was taken into custody in the 100 block of Ninth Street by members of the Clinton County Sheriff's Office. Wadsworth was on the lam for several years (Felony drug warrant). Great job CCSO!

Over the past few weeks, we have received several complaints regarding persons squatting within residences which are for sale, unoccupied or abandoned, specifically during the overnight hours. Please be vigilant and report all suspicious persons or activities. Dial 911 for an emergency or 923-2268 for all non-emergency incidents.

Between 12/1-12/2, unknown actor(s) entered a residence and removed two Oak cabinets from the first floor, dimensions of 38" X 42". If you have any information, please contact CC-911 at (570) 923-2268.

** DAYTIME BURGLARY ** Earlier this afternoon, an occupied residence along Huron Avenue was burglarized. Fortunately, a suspect was developed and charges are expected to be filed. Please remember to secure all doors, windows and report suspicious activity. Video surveillance systems and trail cameras are also helpful. UPDATE: Shawn F. LOVETT, age 19, was arraigned and committed to jail on $50,000 bail.

The subject believed to be responsible for the comments made on YouTube, was taken into custody and transported by PSP-Lamar to the Clinton County Correctional Facility for arraignment. More information is expected to be released by DA David Strouse.

Parents and guardians, please keep in mind that since the school year has begun, the curfew for children between the ages of 14-17 is now 11:00 P.M. until 6:00 A.M. The curfew for children under 14 is 10:00 P.M. until 6:00 A.M.

For those of you who may be assisting BROOKS, please be aware of the following information, which carries a sentence up to 2 years imprisonment: PA CC 5105. Hindering apprehension or prosecution. (a) Offense defined.--A person commits an offense if, with intent to hinder the apprehension, prosecution, conviction or punishment of another for crime or violation of the terms of probation, parole, intermediate punishment or Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition, he: (1) harbors or conceals the other; (2) provides or aids in providing a weapon, transportation, disguise or other means of avoiding apprehension or effecting escape; (3) conceals or destroys evidence of the crime, or tampers with a witness, informant, document or other source of information, regardless of its admissibility in evidence; (4) warns the other of impending discovery or apprehension, except that this paragraph does not apply to a warning given in connection with an effort to bring another into compliance with law; or (5) provides false information to a law enforcement officer. (b) Grading.--The offense is a felony of the third degree if the conduct which the actor knows has been charged or is liable to be charged against the person aided would constitute a felony of the first or second degree. Otherwise it is a misdemeanor of the second degree.

On July 7, 2017 at 2320hrs, a Renovo resident was stopped by police and found to be in possession of 5 baggies of suspected crack cocaine. A cell phone and cash were also seized. The subject was arrested and transported to the Clinton County Correctional Facility for arraignment. Subject was charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, a felony. On May 19th at approximately 1210hrs, the dirt bike rider pictured below was involved in a pursuit in the Renovo area. The suspect is a young white male, wearing a sleeveless maroon tee-shirt, blue jeans, a small black Under Armour backpack and a white helmet.
