It's that time of year when deer carelessly cross streets and highways in our area, often resulting in collisions with motor vehicles. According to State Farm, Pennsylvania drivers have a 1 in 63 chance of hitting a deer on the roadway this year. Some important things to remember: - Deer are most active at dawn(5am to 8am) and dusk(4pm and 8pm) Use extra caution during these times. - If a collision is imminent, do not attempt to swerve to avoid hitting the deer. Swerving can cause the driver to lose control over the vehicle, which can cause greater harm to the driver and others. - If a deer is spotted, slow down. Be cautious as there is more than likely other deer with it. If you do strike a deer, move your vehicle to a safe place, call 911, and do not approach the animal.
