Another reminder about the Central Scranton Expressway Closure..

The Chief and Officers would like to thank all the Dispatchers past and present for being our life line on the other end of the radio. April 9th - 15th is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

A Throop Police Department investigation led to the arrest of Eric Burgerhoff of Pittston by the Lackawanna County District Attorneys Office. Burgerhoff was arrested for delivery and other drug related charges. Seized above, $500.00, scale, 2.5 grams of raw Heroin, 86 bags of Heroin packaged for sale and .64 grams of crystal meth.

***** Roads have been reopened***** Okeckna Street from Bellman Street to Emerald Drive is closed to all traffic, While PPL replaces a pole damaged in an accident.

Throop Police Officers participated in active shooter scenarios today at Roll Calls training house in Scranton. Officers were trained in clearing rooms and shoot, no shoot situations. Officers used the departments UTM firearms under the instruction of Officer Mazzucca. We would like to Thank Roll Call for use of their facility and Dave from Zeller’s Armory.

Found, older male mix with a blue and white collar with paws on it. He was located in the 100 block of Vaughn St Throop transported Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

Chief Jones, Mayor Tropiak and Borough Council recognized four Officers at this evenings council meeting. Officer Andrew Kerecman received K-9 rescue award for saving a drowning puppy from the Lacakwanna River, Officer Kat Petti received a life saving award for performing CPR on an elementary student until Paramedics arrived, Officer Eugene Ruddy and Officer Bill Hazelton received a life saving award for administering CPR and deploying the Departments AED on a borough resident in full cardiac arrest and saving his life.

At the time of this post roads have iced over. State County and Local road crews are out salting. Please use caution and allow extra time on your commute this morning.

We would just like to the time to thank our DPW workers who have been working round the clock to to keep our roads passable. Most of the borough owned roads are wet and down to pavement or slushy. THANK YOU THROOP DPW!!!
