West Hazleton Police Department News

On November 7th, 2017, officers from the Hazleton City Police Department located Bolling at the Hazleton Motor Inn. He was taken into custody without incident. Bolling was arraigned in front of Magistrate Dixon on both the robbery charges from the incidents in West Hazleton as well as a robbery in Plains Township. He was committed to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility after being unable to post $250,000 bail.

****WANTED**** Raymond Edward BOLLING of Hazle Township is wanted in connection with the two armed robberies that took place in the early morning hours of November 6th, 2017, at the Buddie's Bagels and Weis Markets. Anyone who may know the whereabouts of BOLLING is asked to contact the West Hazleton Police at 570-455-3733 or by calling 911. All calls will be handled confidentially.

On November 3rd, 2017, the West Hazleton Police Department received information that wanted person, Aneudi CENTENO-ANDUJAR, was at a residence on E. Green Street in the Borough. As Officers made contact at the residence, CENTENO-ANDUJAR exited a second story window and climbed onto a roof in an attempt to conceal his location and ultimately flee from the officers. Officers positioned in the rear of the residence observed this action and thwarted his attempts. CENTENO-ANDUJAR was subsequently taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail. He faces charges of Burglary (F), Robbery (F), Escape (F), Simple Assault (M), Terroristic Threats (M), as well as several theft related charges. During the investigation West Hazleton Police were assisted by officers from the Hazleton City Police Department, Sugarloaf and Butler Township Police Departments, and Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Traffic Stop leads to charges. On Tuesday, October 24 2017, at approximately 10:51 pm, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle being operated without its headlights illuminated. During the course of a traffic stop, a male provided Police with false information regarding his identity. Police took the male into custody and discovered his true name. Dario GEORGE (26), Hazleton, faces charges of False ID to Law Enforcement.

On Saturday, October 21 2017, at approximately 2:20 pm, the West Hazleton Police Department was summoned to the area of Cranberry Avenue to the report of a female who was thrown from a moving vehicle. As Police converged on the area, additional information was received reporting a male had shot a firearm at the vehicle. An investigation revealed Rafael Castillo (49), West Hazleton, had fired (6) shots at an occupied vehicle during an argument near the 5th Street playground. CASTILLO’s gunfire struck the vehicle twice as the occupants fled for safety. Castillo was taken into Police custody a short time later. CASTILLO was charged with (2) counts of Aggravated Assault, (2) counts of Recklessly Endangering another Person, and (1) count Possessing an Instrument of a Crime. The West Hazleton Police Department is handling this incident as an ongoing investigation, and requests anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Police at (570) 455-3733. West Hazleton Police were assisted by officers from the Hazleton City Police Department, Sugarloaf Township Police Department, Butler Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police during this incident.

During the overnight hours of October 06 2017, a discarded bow case was turned over to the West Hazleton Police Department. The owner may claim the case by contacting Police at (570) 455-3733, or by appearing at the Police Department.

On Tuesday, October 3rd, Officer Henderson visited the children of Pixie Paradise Early Learning Center to teach the children about Halloween safety, Stranger Danger, and the reasons to call 911. Tuesday, August 01, from 5-8 pm, come join the West Hazleton Neighborhood Crime Watch and the West Hazleton Police Department, for the 2017 National Night Out. National Night Out is an annual community building campaign that promotes camaraderie that makes our neighborhoods safer. National night out enhances relationships between neighbors, and relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. The Police Department will be fingerprinting children as part of a child saftey informatoin packet provided by the Crime Watch. A bake sale and tricky tray raffle will be held throughout the event. Food and refreshments, along with face painting and other community activities will be available, all free of charge.

Wanted man taken into custody. On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, West Hazleton Police took Juan Malave (25), Hazleton, into custody while at Magisterial District Court 11-3-04. Officers were scheduled to have a preliminary hearing with Malave, and prior to their arrival discovered Malave was a wanted person. The Machester Office of Adult Probation, (Connecticut), provided West Hazleton Police with a warrant requesting Malave be taken into custody and held in county prison without bail. The agency discovered Malave violated conditions of parole after being arrested by West Hazleton Police during February 2017. Malave was under court ordered supervision as a portion of sentencing he received after being convicted of Firearm Robbery of a Business. On February 03, 2017, the Luzerne County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Malave’s Winters Avenue address. The search warrant was the result of a (2) month long investigation into the sales of narcotics from the location. The Task Force investigation was conducted by officers from the West Hazleton Police Department, and Hazleton City Police Department Narcotics Division.

Wanted man located. On Tuesday, June 13 2017, at approximately 4:30 pm, West Hazleton Police were summoned to Clay Avenue for the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon their arrival officers encountered a male they are familiar with, and immediately knew he was a wanted person. The male subject resisted arrest as officers attempted to take him into custody pursuant to a court issued arrest warrant. Thomas FISHER (44), West Hazleton, was taken into custody for charges stemming from an April 17 2017, incident. During the April incident Fisher strangeled a 74 year old family member during an argument. Fisher was charged with Felony Strangulation, and now faces additional charges of Resisting Arrest or Law Enforcement. Fisher was taken before Magisterial District Judge James Dixon for formal arraignment on the charges, Dixon set bail at $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. Unable to immediately produce bail, Fisher was transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility where he awaits a preliminary hearing.

Wanted woman turns herself in. On June 07, 2017, Jenny Arias-Tejada (18), Hazleton, appeared at Hazleton City Hall and informed Hazleton Police that officers were attempting to locate her. Tejada had an active felony arrest warrant stemming from West Hazleton Police charges and was taken into custody. West Hazleton Police obtained an arrest warrant for Arias-Tejada at the completion of a weeks long 2016-2017 investigation. On December 31 2016, Arias-Tejada, along with (2) accomplices, broke into an East Oak Street residence where they stole numerous items. Arias-Tejada faces Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft, and receiving Stolen Property charges.

On June 09 2017, at approximately 11:00 pm, West Hazleton Police were summoned to the 300 block of Allen Street for a fight. Upon their arrival officers encountered Priamo Acosta (54), West Hazleton, who was acting in a disorderly manner and refused to comply with officers commands. Acosta was taken into custody and faces charges for Disorderly Conduct, and Public Drunkenness.

On June 09 2017, at approximately 4:45 pm, West Hazleton Police were summoned to East Green for a neighbor dispute. Steven Eberele (48), West Hazleton, faces Harassment, Public Drunkenness, and Disorderly Conduct charges as a result of the incident.

Wanted woman located. On Monday, June 12, 2017, at approximately 11:00 pm, officers were summoned to the 300 block of Allen Street for a disturbance. During the course of an investigation officers discovered Maria Montes-Segovia (21), West Hazleton, was a wanted person. Montes-Segovia had an active warrant for failure to appear on Felony theft related charges. Montes-Segovia was taken into custody, cited for harassment, and transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

Wanted man located. On Monday, June 12, 2017, at approximately 6:35 pm, officers on patrol noticed a vehicle being driven without the registration properly affixed, further investigation revealed the license plate was currently registered to a Ford, but displayed on a Honda. Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver, Deyvi Sanchez-Santana (26), Hazleton, was a wanted person. Sanchez-Santana had an active Luzerne County Sherriff Department warrant for failure to appear on theft charges.

Found property The pictured cellular phone was turned over to Police. The owner of the phone may claim it at the West Hazleton Police Department by proving ownership.
