It is with sadness that the Sharon Police Department shares the news that Chief (Retired) Robert J. Truitt past away last week. Chief Truitt started his career with Sharon PD in 1966 and was promoted to Chief in 1978. He retired from SPD in 1989. Chief Truitt was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police Rose of Sharon Lodge #3 and Saint Anthony's Parish in Sharon. He will be sorely missed.

His name is Orion. We are having a fundraiser at the Keg on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2-6 PM. Tickets are $25.00, and includes a chicken dinner and a chance to win a Flat screen TV. There will be a Chinese auction. Tickets are available at Tony's Auto Parts, Warehouse Sales, The Keg and Sharon PD Kids are welcome! Young Kids may share a meal with an adult. It is with sadness that the Sharon Police Department shares the news that Officer (Retired) Dennis "Denny" Chiavazza past away yesterday. He retired from SPD in 1989. There will be calling hours for Officer Chiavazza on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 2-5 P.M. at McGonigle's Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following.

Sharon Police Department announces with great sorrow the early retirement of K9 Chester. Officer Chester was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer. He retired May 17, 2017. He will live out his final days in the home of Officer Steve Winans. There will be a K9 benefit and retirement party for Chester on Saturday; June 3, 2017 from 1-3 PM at the United Methodist Church on Silver Street in Sharon. Chester will be there to celebrate his short time with us. Please come join us for pizza and cake. Ticket/Donations will be at the door. There will be a Chinese auction. Baskets for the auction can be donated and dropped off at the Sharon City Bldg or brought to the event.

Congratulations Lieutenant Daniel P. Lesheski. on your retirement. LT. finished his last tour of duty with the city today, 5-18-2017 @ 1430 hours. He radioed out of service for the final time after serving over 24 years with the Sharon Police Dept.

It is with our deepest sorrow that the Sharon Police Department informs you of the death of Officer (Retired) Robert "Ken" Torrence. Officer Torrence was known to many as "KT" or "Ken" Torrence. He served the city proudly from 1973 to 2000. Calling hours for Officer Torrence will be Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1-4 PM at McGonigle's Funeral home in Sharon. There will be a funeral service on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1100 AM at the Valley Christian Church on Pine Hollow Boulevard in Hermitage, PA.

A bittersweet moment. Congratulations Leo W. Reardon Jr. on your retirement. Leo finished his last tour of duty with the city on Friday 5-5-2017 @ 1430 hours. He radioed out of service for the final time after serving over 28 years with the Sharon Police Dept.

Sharon Police Department remembers this Easter Sunday two of our brothers that passed away within the last year. Officer Thomas O'Neill served the city from 1968-1993. He died on February 6, 2017. He was 72. Sergeant Paul Moore served the city from 1953-1980. He died on August 30, 2016. He was 85.

Sharon Police Department mourns the loss of Officer Thomas E. Jennings. He was fondly know to many as "TJ". Officer Jennings served the City of Sharon from 1969 to 1993. He passed away April 11, 2017, He was 74 years old. His son, Officer Jeffrey W. Jennings still serves with the city. Officer Jennings's calling hours will be this Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4 PM to 7 PM at McGonigle's Funeral home in Sharon. There will be a private funeral service Thursday morning.

On 04-14-2017 @ 9:11 PM Sharon Police were dispatched for a medical assist call at 299 Quinby Street. Officers Geoffrey Ballard and Steven Winans arrived on scene and assisted a Sharon woman with delivering a healthy beautiful baby girl.

Thank you Roger Laird for the photos, Chief (Retired) David O. Ryan joined us too. Sgt. Hynes got his butt kicked in a game of Pokemon Cards by Cason.

Thank you to all who came to see us yesterday for Coffee with a Cop. We recruited a few new Officers. Meet Cason, Vinny, and Vito. We are planning another one in May, hope to see you there. Thank you Chief Hosa and Sharpsville PD for hosting the event and inviting Sharon PD to participate.
