Towamencin Township Police Department News

Some of our officers will be on hand to join our host, Hatfield PD. We would enjoy meeting you and the opportunity to discuss issues, concerns, or just have a conversation.

If the Towamencin Township building is your voting location: We are collecting items for the holiday season to benefit families in need in our local area. Please consider bringing an item (or items) to drop off at the police station. Every little bit helps, and can go a long way to a family who is experiencing hardship this holiday season. We are doing a food drive for the Thanksgiving season, a clothing and supplies drive to assist domestic violence victims, and a toy drive for the Holiday season.

Sharing a Missing Endangered person, Randall Stewart. Please contact Upper Gwynedd Township Police if you have any information on Mr. Stewart's whereabouts.

TPD Officers and staff will once again be participating in NO SHAVE NOVEMBEARD. TPD employees wanting to participate and grow those beards chip in cash to the pot to participate. This year, TPD is raising money to donate to Easter Seals located on Forty Foot Road in Kulpsville. During the month of November, officers will do their best to grow the stateliest (or most horrific) beard. At the end of November, officers will be entered to win the prestigious award for best (or worst) beard. During the "grow period", donations will be accepted to be added to the pot. Proceeds and donations collected will go to Easter Seals of Kulpsville for the benefit of their students. You can visit the Easter Seals website for more information about their organization: http://www.easterseals.com/

"How do I enter into the costume contest?" It's so easy! MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE EVENT FOR UPDATES ON WHERE THE OFFICERS ARE AT IN THE TOWNSHIP! We will only be posting it in the event, not on the main page. See you soon!

Hope everyone is gearing up for Halloween tomorrow night! Our trick or treating officer will be out and patrolling our neighborhoods with candy. We've had several requests to visit specific neighborhoods, so if you want to make sure you get to see the googly eyed squad car post in the event or send us a message so we can make sure we see as many of our residents as possible! If you want to enter the costume contest: have your picture taken with the officer and/or the cruiser to be entered! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™‚๏ธ

TPD is still collecting new unused clothing and bedding items for the drive to benefit the Laurel House. Every little bit can help a victim of domestic violence in more ways than you could even imagine. If anyone needs assistance with getting items to the police station, please contact our page directly and we will do everything we can to help out.

Trick-Or-Treat with TPD On Halloween, kids out trick or treating should be on the look out for the cruiser with the googly eyes! The Towamencin Police Benevolent Association and Towamencin Township Police Department are hosting a Clothing Drive benefitting the Laurel House. The Laurel House works in our community to provide assistance and emergency shelter for victim's of domestic violence. Comprised of community volunteers, legal advocates, counselors, community educators, and countless additional dedicated people, the Laurel House provides services on a daily basis (and sometimes on-call through their DART program for emergency safety planning for families in need). To help the Laurel House continue to achieve their success in our community and to benefit those who may find themselves in need, we are collecting NEW children's clothing, coats, pajamas, socks, diapers, wipes, bed linens and stuffed animals. Every little bit helps! Items can be dropped off to our donation bin in the lobby of the police station (accessible 24/7). If you have a larger order, or restrictions may prevent you from getting them to our police station, please message our page directly and we will arrange to pick up the items.

Do you have unused or expired medication? Participate in Montgomery County's TALES FROM THE SCRIPT drug take back day and dispose of that medication safely! Towamencin PD is proud to be a disposal site, with our drop box in the front lobby of the police station (accessible 24/7). Drug addiction is a serious and growing problem across the United States and in Montgomery County, and abuse of prescription drugs, especially opiates, is a large part of it. As the problem worsens, so, too, do the consequences. Drug overdose deaths in Montgomery County are growing rapidly, with 249 deaths recorded in 2016. The path to addiction and overdose often begins, research shows, with a young person taking pills from a home medicine cabinet, not seeing the harm in trying the โ€œone little pill.โ€ To reduce the availability of those drugs and keep them out of reach for abuse, the Prescription Drug Disposal Program was started in 2010. Please visit www.montcopa.org/da for a complete list of disposal sites and additional information.

Officers from Towamencin PD, Hatfield Township Police Department, and Lansdale Borough Police Department were at AVE Lansdale for our Coffee With A Cop event on Saturday. The conversation was great, coffee was hot, and the food was delicious. Our winner of the costume contest is Abrielle... *ahem* Minnie Mouse, who won over all our hearts and walked away with a TPD police string backpack filled with candy!

Officers from Towamencin, Hatfield Township Police Department and Lansdale Borough Police Department are here so far.... come grab the goodies supplied by AVE for today's Coffee With A Cop!

Don't forget, tomorrow is our NP PAL Coffee With A Cop event at AVE Lansdale! Officers from Upper Gwynedd Township Police, Hatfield Township Police Department, Lansdale Borough Police Department, and Towamencin PD will be there. We will be in the Clubhouse (look for the balloons on Towamencin Avenue). Come, share a cup of joe, enjoy a breakfast snack, and go home with some police SWAG. KIDS WELCOME! And in the Halloween spirit, officers will be handing out candy and accepting entries into our Halloween costume contest! The kid with the best costume will win a limited edition TPD Policeman String Backpack with goodies inside! Hope to see you there! Parking is either on street or inside the complex.

Help TPD help Laurel House! Beginning today, October 20 through November 19, Towamencin Township Police Department, partnered with the Towamencin Police Benevolent Association will be holding a clothing drive to benefit Laurel House. We will be accepting Donations of New children's clothing, diapers and wipes, stuffed animals, books, and bed linens. We appreciate all donations, but will only be able to accept NEW and unopened items for this drive with the exception of gently used books. Donations will be accepted during normal business hours at the Police Station and the Township Building.

Today the folks of Living Branches at Dock Woods put together a wonderful appreciation day for the Officers of TPD. We are so thankful for the event that they put on annually and the time and care they put into it. They always have a delicious spread of muffins home baked by staff and residents and fresh coffee to go with. Tasty snacks and warm conversation were the best way to start our day. Thank you again for your support!

Great teamwork resulting in a safer community. Well done and thanks to our supportive community, without their help we could not be successful.

Come join Towamencin Police Officers for our North Penn Police Athletic League Coffee With A Cop and take advantage of the opportunity to sip and talk with members of police departments in the North Penn Region. We are graciously being hosted by the AVE Apartments at 1001 Towamencin Avenue, Lansdale. Coffee and light breakfast refreshments will be provided, as well as various items of police SWAG!

This will certainly be of interest to a number of our Towamencin residents as well.

--New Driver Info-- As of this year, the Pennsylvania Drivers manuals provided by PennDOT will no longer be printed in hard copies. This includes the PA Driver's Manual, Motorcycle Operator's Manual, PA CDL Driver's Manual, School Bus Driver's Manual, and the PA CDL Hazardous Materials Endorsement Renewal Manual. We usually have some available here at TPD, but are no longer able to do so. You can still get the hard copies of the books from PennDOT Driver Centers while supplies last. Going forward, all Driver's Manuals will be available digitally on www.dmv.pa.gov along with new tutorial videos.
