Are motorized or electric scooters legal to ride on the street? The use of motorized or electric scooters on the highways or roadways is illegal and their use is inherently dangerous. They do not meet vehicle code requirements and the operator is also required to have a valid PA driver’s license. These scooters can be operated on private property with the property owner’s permission.

It is important that residents make code enforcement aware of violations so they can be corrested and made safe. Police do not enforce these violations. State Prison Emergencies: On Oct. 1, 2011, the Department of Corrections switched from its previous emergency notification system to AlertPA. To sign up to receive notifications about prison emergencies. You can be notifed on your home phone, cell phone and via e-mail and/or text messaging. You select the method ... you stay informed!
