Parking restrictions for Heritage Day, Saturday August 26, 2017: There will be no parking from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the following locations: -North Main St from Centre to Washington St -200 block N Jardin St from Washington to Penn Sts -Unit block N White St There is also no parking on N Jardin St from Centre to Coal Sts from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. (This area will be used for the parade line-up) Additionally, North Main St will be closed to traffic from Centre to Washington Sts from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. -Detour traffic traveling north on Main St will be: Main to East Centre; East Centre to North White; North White to East Washington; East Washington back to Main St. -Detour traffic traveling south on Main St will be: Main St to West Washington ; West Washington to North Jardin; North Jardin to West Centre; West Centre to back to Main St.

The Polish American Fire Company #4 will be having its annual block party June 30th and July 1st. As a result, there will be NO PARKING, either side, on Friday, June 30th from 3pm - 10pm on the following streets. -West Centre St between Jardin & Chestnut Sts -Unit block of S West St -Unit block of N West St -Unit block of S Chestnut St Vehicles that do not move will be ticketed and towed.

Parking restrictions: There will be NO PARKING on North Main St from Centre St to Washingtons St on Saturday May 20, 2017 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. There will also be restirctions in the unit block of North White St and the 200 block of North Jardin St. Signs will be posted later in the week.

Crews were able to complete snow removal on West Centre St. Tomorrow they will begin on West Cherry St from West St to Vine St.

The Borough is beginning snow removal today on West Centre St from West to Vine Sts and West Cherry St from West to Vine St. Please be prepared to move your vehicle(s) as needed. The parking ban has been lifted from the snow emergency route. The police have also been instructed to cite people for placing snow in the street.

Parking ban is now in effect on the snow emergency routes. Please remove vehicles from all of Main St. Also remove vehicles from Centre St between White & West Sts.

With the anticipated snowfall, Mayor Andrew Szczyglak has ordered NO PARKING on the designated snow emergency routes beginning at 8:00 pm this evening, March 13, until further notice. This will include all of Main St and Centre St between White and West Sts. Please move your vehicles. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and towed. Additionally, there will be NO PARKING in any alley. Conditions will be monitored and parking restrictions will be updated as needed.

On Friday, February 17 we received notification from the Shenandoah Valley School District that they had received reports from concerned parents and students that a student was going to bring a gun to school on Monday after being involved in an altercation with another student. Police investigated the report and have determined that there is no truth to the allegation.

The Borough is experiencing a large amount of motor vehicle thefts in the past week. Don't be foolish and give someone the opportunity to take what you work hard for.

***Please share*** With the anticipated snow coming tonight, please be wary where you park your vehicle. Officers will be ticketing along the snow emergency route pending the snow fall.

On 1/19/17, Benito Reynoso was arraigned by the on call District Magistrate Judge Bayer for the following: theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, careless driving, reckless driving, Fleeing and attempting to Elude police, resisting arrest, driving while suspended, driving without a license and numerous other traffic violations which occurred in the Borough. Reynoso was unable to post the $50,000 straight cash bail and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison. 2241 hours: Police responded to a radio dispatch to 8 East Centre St where a vehicle was stolen. The complainant advised police that he left his vehicle running with the keys inside it. Police searched the area and located the stolen vehicle on the unit block of East Coal St. The complainant was contacted and arrived on scene moments later. The complainant indicated that items were missing from the vehicle. 2337 hours: Police received a radio dispatch to the 200 block of West Coal St for a disturbance in progress. The complainant indicated there was a male in a green Subaru honking his horn and revving his engine in the street blocking traffic. Police arrived on scene and observed the described vehicle in the roadway blocking traffic, revving its engine and honking its horn. The Subaru was blocking the roadway and traffic was backed up behind it. Police attempted to make contact with the driver of the Subaru but the vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed and fled the scene. Police caught up to the vehicle and located it parked off the road in a dirt lot in Mahanoy Township.The male was taken into custody and Police learned that the Subaru was stolen from the City of Hazleton. Police located items on Reynoso from the vehicle which was stolen from East Centre St.

Today, 11/10/2016 at approximately 3:50 pm a White Jeep Liberty driving the wrong way on the 100 block of S Jardin St, struck the vinyl fencing surrounding the lot at the former location of Saint Georges Church, and fled the scene. The Jeep made a right turn onto Jardin St from Cherry St. Witnesses reported a second vehicle at the intersection at the time of the incident. Police are asking anyone with information to contact us through the communications center at 570-462-1991. The striking vehicle will have damage to the passenger side and is missing the brake/parking light lens.

Attention Residents: The street sweeper will be running this month!

Just a reminder to lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables inside. On the evening of October 11th, a vehicle was stolen but recovered in the Borough a short time later. On October 12 an attempted vehicle theft was reported where the Actor(s) tried to "punch" the ignition.

**PARKING RESTRICTIONS** Please be aware that there will be no parking on the east side of Main St between Oak St and Coal St on Monday September 26, 2016 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00pm. That will include the unit block of South Main St and the unit and 100 block of North Main St.
