Today Tom Yaniszeski was sworn in as the newest member of the Jeannette Police Dept by District Judge Joseph DeMarchis. Ptlm Yaniszeski was hired by City Council on 5-13-2015, and will be patrolling City streets in a few days.

The City of Jeannette Police Department is currently investigating a Robbery of the Huntington Bank on Clay Ave in the City. The Robbery occurred at approximately 1230hrs this afternoon. The actor passed the teller a note demanding cash and no weapon was seen and no one was injured. An unknown amount of cash was taken. The actor fled on foot and possibly left the area in a light colored, possibly silver small SUV. The Jeannette Police Department would like to welcome K-9 "EGO" to the City of Jeannette. K-9 "EGO" is a Belgian Malinois and he is from Holland. The Jeannette Police Department was able to acquire K-9 EGO after receiving $ 11,000 from the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office. Jeannette Police Department thanks District Attorney John Peck for providing the funding to assist the Department in purchasing K-9 EGO and the training. K-9 Handler Ptlm Phillips and EGO started their training on 10-13-2014 with Master Trainer Bill Sombo from North Huntingdon. We will provide updates of Ptlm Phillips and EGO throughout their training.

Congratulations to Police Officer Richard O'Neal who was recently promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant, he will be second in charge of the Jeannette Police Department.

City of Jeannette Police Dept has obtained the correct photo of female involved in using a stolen Debit Card at Giant Eagle Hempfield Township on 7-13-2014. Jeannette Police need your help to identify the white female who is wearing dark colored top and light colored shorts. Ptlm Scalzo will be moving on to the City of Greensburg Police Department and Ptlm Pape will be moving to Penn Hills Police Department. City of Jeannette Police Department would also like to welcome Officer Bryan Defelice to the Police Department. Officer Defelice was hired on 7-9-2014 by Jeannette City Council, and was sworn in by the Honorable District Judge Joseph DeMarchis on 7-11-2014. Officer Defelice will start patrolling the streets of Jeannette on 7-13-2014.

ALERT: Jeannette Police Department have responded to numerous calls on the northside of the City for items being stolen from vehicles over the last month. Please make sure that your vehicle is LOCKED and to remove all valuables from your vehicles.

City of Jeannette Police Department received $1500.00 from Buckle Up Pa to conduct Enforcement of Traffic/Seatbelt Violations within the City. The Enforcement was conducted from May 19th to June 8th. Officers from the Department conducted 73 Traffic Stops and issued 68 Traffic Citations.

Police were dispatched to a fight in the area of Patton Ave on 6-15-2014 around 1100hrs, one female was arrested for Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct. She was later transferred to the County Jail.

On 6-15-2014 at 0319hrs Jeannette Police investigated shots fired in the downtown area. A few minutes later officers received another call of an alarm going off at First Niagara Bank. Upon arriving on scene of the Bank they found that an individual had shot the windows out of the double glass doors and made entry into the Bank. They checked the inside of the Bank and found that the individual had fled the area, they did observe blood on the floor inside of Bank. When the manager arrived on scene the officers were able to view the Banks video cameras and were able to ID the individual who shot the doors and entered the Bank. This individual was taken into custody within 1 1/2 hours, charges were filed against the actor and he was transferred to the County Jail. We would like to thank the Police Departments that assisted during this incident, Greensburg, Penn Twp, Manor and Pa State Police.

On 2nd shift last night Jeannette Officer's arrested a male for attempting to Lure a Child into his vehicle. The incident occurred on South 7th St. Officer's were assisted by Penn Twp Police.

Jeannette Police are looking for a Red Pontiac (Grand Am or Grand Prix) that was involved in a Hit and Run Accident at 1:45PM in the area of Chambers Ave and South 6th St. The Red Pontiac struck victim's vehicle causing major damage and fled the scene. The victim stated that damage to the red Pontiac will be in the right front area, she also stated she saw 291 on the registration but was unable to obtain the full plate number. If anybody would observe a red Pontiac fitting this description PLEASE contact 911 ASAP. Thank You

Officer's assisted Jeannette EMS today with a Jeannette resident that was having a Diabetic Emergency on Gaskill Ave. A special Thank You goes out to Bill and Melanie Bedont for reporting to 911 what they observed as they were driving on Gaskill Ave, their actions today saved this gentleman's life. THANK YOU to the Bedont's

On 4-2-2014 at 2:15PM Jeannette Officers picked up Rashaad Shepard 35yrs old on a Westmoreland County Bench Warrant. Shepard was transported to County Jail by Sheriff's Department.

4-2-2014 at 4:00PM Jeannette Police picked up Lance Theys on a State Parole Warrant in the 300 Block of N 3rd St. Theys was transported to Westmoreland County Jail.

On 4-2-2014 at 5:08PM Jeannette Officers were dispatched to an Armed Robbery at Dollar General Store located at 700 Clay Ave. Within ten minutes officers arrested Stephen Demko 44yrs old from Jeannette who had ran from the store after confronting employees of the store with a knife. Demko was charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats and Simple Assault. Demko was transported to Westmoreland County Jail.
