It was a busy week educating our community about the dangers of drugs. On Wednesday, Detective Buchsbaum and Officer D. Meyers participated in a drug forum at Penn Middle School. Yesterday, Officer Danowski and Mr Davis provided an economics course regarding supply, demand, and the affects of drugs on the economy. And today Mingo stole the show as Officers J. Lewis and C. Meyers spoke to our students at Sunrise Elementary School. In addition, Officer D. Meyers just received a 2K grant for an educational program at the PTHS regarding impaired driving. I'm so proud to have our Officers interacting and educating our students & community members. They are truly committed to our community. 👮🏼 Thank You !!! John Otto Chief of Police

This past week I had the privilege of attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Philadelphia and networking with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, as well as Chiefs from around the world. Terror, crime and the opiate epidemic were the major topics of discussion, and I applaud AG Sessions for taking on corrupt drug organizations like MS-13. Believe it or not the decisions at the federal level absolutely affect us at the local level, and I admire leaders with the courage to take on tall tasks and difficult challenges. The Penn Township Police Department is well aware of the challenges facing Penn Township as a result of the opiate crises and we attack the problem through educational programs, the administration of NARCAN by our police Officers and enforcement of criminal law. We know that all of our residents have the potential to be affected by this crises and welcome partnerships with anyone who can help in our efforts. If you have information regarding anyone using, dealing or supplying drugs in Penn Township please let us know so that we can use it to continue our efforts. John Otto Chief of Police

This morning Detective Buchsbaum filed felony charges of Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft & Receiving Stolen Property against Anthony Stecko of Penn Township for 3 Burglaries he committed in local businesses over the past few months. The Penn Township Police Department takes great pride in protecting our local businesses, and I'm thankful for the hard work and dedication our Officers display in solving these cases. Job well done! John Otto Chief of Police

Please share this video with your young children as they can often be frightened by the sight of a fireman in full gear with an air tank and breathing apparatus, especially in a stressful time such as a house fire. Our firemen are very active educating children all year long, but I thought this post would be especially appropriate during fire prevention week. Enjoy 👍🏻 John Otto Chief of Police.

A visit from Mingo was a great way to end the week. If you'd like Mingo to visit your group give us a call and we'll line up a talk about his job and capabilities.

This Friday (October 13), the Penn Trafford School District will have its annual Homecoming celebration including a parade and football game. As a result expect heavy traffic in the Harrison City area and a complete closure of SR 130 at Walnut street for approximately 15 minutes beginning at 6pm. Below is a list of the anticipated activities. John Otto Chief of Police

Great work Warrior's. 👍🏻

Last night the Penn-Trafford School District saluted America's Veterans as well as Penn Township's First Responders. As a Veteran and First Responder I will tell you that your support is truly appreciated. Quite frankly, we can't provide quality police, fire & EMS services without your support. On a side note, hats off to our Warrior student body. What a tremendous show of respect for America's hero's. A true indicator of the wonderful community we call home. John Otto Chief of Police

As a result of this evenings Penn Trafford vs Gateway football game in Warrior stadium, Walnut Street will be "one way" from 5pm to 11pm. Traffic will be permitted to travel North from SR130 towards the Municipal building. This will allow for safe pedestrian travel from the PT Municipal building to the stadium. All spectators are encouraged to park at the PT Municipal building as parking on campus is limited. Heavy traffic and back ups are to be expected all evening in the Harrison City area along SR130. Come out and watch not only the "battle for the bell", but also our band, colorguard, cheerleaders and a special "salute to service." John Otto Chief of Police

Once again our Volunteer Fire Departments from Penn Township and surrounding communities answered the call in a time of need. I can't stress enough the amount of training, sacrifice and commitment put forth every day by these fine men and women. Never underestimate the professionalism of our Fire Departments, and never pass an opportunity to thank them. Thank You!! John Otto Chief of Police.
