Winchester Police Department News

Just a friendly reminder: Please lock your car doors even when you are parked at your home and especially during the night. We have had a few reports of cars being rummaged through during the night. If you find that someone has gone through your vehicle, please let us know even if something wasn't stolen. We won't know where an extra patrol is needed if we don't know it happens. Thanks!!

A happy ending to a sad story of animal abuse.

In recent weeks there have been numerous reports made about counterfeit $100 bills being passed at local businesses here in Winchester and in Franklin County. The images of the bills that we have collected are attached. There are two different styles that our officers have been seeing. The first style appears legitimate and references the federal reserve system. There are Chinese writings in pink on the front and back of the bill. The second style appears legitimate at a quick glance. However, there are numerous locations where "Cinema Prop Money" is stated and it also says "For Motion Picture Use Only." Both styles fail when tested with a counterfeit detector pen. If you come across any of these counterfeit bills please contact the Winchester Police Department, 931-967-3840 or 931-967-2331. We have copies of the counterfeit bills available at the Winchester Police Department if any businesses would like to have a copy.
