The Humboldt Police Department would like to inform the community that we have had several complaints about the gentleman standing at the 45 bypass and East End Drive with the homeless sign. Officers have determined that the gentleman does have a residence in Humboldt and has a warm place to stay. It is our conclusion that his only purpose of standing at this intersection is to solicit money from citizens who have compassion for someone who is needy.

The Humboldt Police Department would like to inform the city of what may happen when signing up for online jobs when you do not have contact with an actual person. Officers learned that there is a company that asks you to work for them from home. They may offer payment for recieveing and sending packages from your home. Most of these compainies are not authentic and are based on a scam. It is almost certain that the packages you are receiving and sending out are bought fraudulently and the property you are receiving is considered stolen. This could almost certainly cause you to be charged with receiving stolen property. HPD would ask the citizens of Humboldt and surrounding areas to use logic when signing up for these jobs.
