Lafayette Police Department News

Without going into details, we ask that everyone keep our department in your thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations to Derrick Ryan Gann for being awarded Officer of the year 2017 !

Anyone recognize these folks or this vehicle? Thanks!

If you have Medication that needs to be disposed of we now have a drop box in the lobby at the Police Dept.

Day 1 of Defensive Tactics training with a couple of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters...we appreciated the great training and learned a lot. Our main concern now is whether or not we can get out of bed in the morning.

I only got one picture during the Christmas parade due to directing traffic, but I had to post it. Sgt. Hix and Ptlm. Tillman getting ready to post up.

Thank you Christine Pedigo for thinking about us on this Thanksgiving Day. She brought us a pan of homemade chocolate chip muffins, and they were great. Thank you so much! Hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving!

Just so we’re clear, this is the page for the Lafayette TENNESSEE Police Department. We have been receiving messages, posts, reviews, etc. based on ideas or actions regarding a department with the same name but in other states. Please check to confirm you are reviewing the right department before leaving bad reviews for what an officer (that doesn’t work here) said or did to you. Thanks.

The third and final escapee, Jeffrey Strong, has been apprehended by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. All three are now in custody.

Matthew White has been apprehended in Bowling Green, KY. That only leaves one escapee, Jeffrey Strong.

Dylan Ferguson, the escapee that was on the TBI Most Wanted, has been apprehended in Trousdale County. White and Strong are still on the run.

Please be on the lookout for these three individuals that escaped the Macon County Jail on 11/08/2017. They are Matthew White, Dylan Ferguson, and Jeffrey Strong. They are possibly in a stolen white 1990 Ford F-250 single cab 2wd. The truck is lifted and has red cab lights. These individuals are considered possibly armed and dangerous. If spotted, do not attempt to make contact. Please notify the Lafayette Police Department at 615-666-4725, the Macon County Sheriffs Office at 615-666-3325, or simply dial 911.

Shared to us by a Facebook user. Thank you very much! "By faith Abraham, when he was called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going". Hebrews 11:8 NIV) On the tragic day of 9/11/2001 first responders ran into danger because of their calling. Much like Abraham, they obeyed and went. And they didn't know where they were going. They didn't know the Twin Towers would become their final resting place. Today, LPD officers leave their homes every day out of obedience to the call to protect and serve. They do this not knowing where they are going: will this be a routine traffic stop or will things go south?; exactly how will the domestic dispute play out?; will I be the target of an ambush today?; what kind of verbal abuse will I encounter on each call....all represent not knowing where you are going and what you will encounter today. May you all have the courage of Abraham and follow his example of Faith and Obedience. You may not know where you are going, but God does. Blessings to you and stay safe.

*UPDATE* Subject has been identified and is in custody. Thanks! We would like to ask for your help with any information or identification of this subject. This subject attempted to break into Home Town foods and then did break into Sunshine market late Thursday night to early Friday morning. Subject was on foot as far as we know and was wearing a White Under Armor T-shirt and a Orange Texas Longhorns hat. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Any and all tips will be kept confidential.
