Selmer Police Department News

Congratulations to Ted Roberts on being promoted to Lieutenant. LT. Roberts has been with Selmer Police Dept for over 15 years.

Thank you so much Anthony Henson, and staff at The Bank for the wonderful box of doughnuts. We are definitely feeling loved!

The Selmer police department is currently investigating some threats made between minors over social media. There have been petitions issued in that matter. There have been no threats concerning any of the schools. This incident was between individuals only.

Inclement weather is on us. We would like to put out some basic information for you: Tennessee state law requires law enforcement to be notified anytime an accident occurs and there is 50.00 dollars damage. HOWEVER, a report may not be filed unless the damage is personal injury or property damage 400.00 or higher. DURING inclement weather, we will respond to accidents however due to the increased volume of these incidents, minor accidents can be reported at a later date and time. In situations of weather response calls are generally prioritized by nature. If you are in a very minor accident it's best to exchange names numbers, and vehicle information and report the accident at a later time. If it's a single vehicle accident, for example a vehicle has slid off the road, the officer will assess the scene and damage, if it is minor we will take a report at a later time. Thank you.

A huge thank you to the Independent Appeal for the tasty treats on Law Enforcement Appreciation day! We call em power rings!

The person has been identified thank you for all the shares! We are happy to see a community that cares enough to help. Reading some of the comments, it’s important to remember that no one wants things stolen from them. Had any of us been a victim, we all would want the person responsible caught. Again thank you!

We’d like to thank you for your shares and assistance. The earlier post about a runaway juvenile has been removed. The young man has been located.
