The Spring City Police Dept Announces Safe Campaign Participation: The S.C.P.D. will be partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for its 5th annual Seat Belts Are For Everyone [Safe] Campaign. The Statewide initiative is designed to increase seat belt usage and child passenger safety restraint usage through the implementation of occupant-protection programs, public events,and check points through out local communities across Tennessee. The S.A.F.E campaign begins Feb ,1st 2018 and concludes August 1st ,2018. The S.C.P.D. reminds and Encourages everyone to buckle up at all times, including making sure your child is properly restrained in the proper child seat . If anyone needs assistance in properly installing a child safety seat please come by the Police Department and ask for one of our Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians.We would be glad to assist you stated Chief B.j Neal .During this campaign all Spring City Police Department Officers will be out conducting Saturation patrols and check points with a special emphasis on seat belt and child restraint enforcement . Last year yielded the following results: 1,480 Child Restraint 16;571 Seat Belt Citations 835 other seat belt enforcement activities; In 2016 Tennessess's average seat belt usage was 88.95 percent , it decreased in 2017 to 88.51percent,Our goal is to achieve 100 percent seat belt usage across Tennessee, In Tennessee ,a disproportionate percentage of unrestrained fatalities tend to occur between the hours of 6 pm to 559am , 50 percent of fatalities are not wearing seat belts .

Highway 68 crossing into Cumberland county is closed due to 2 tractor trailers having it blocked .

The Spring City Police Department would like to remind all citizens that we are observing Halloween on October 31st from 5:30pm till 8:30pm . We will be closing both West Rhea Avenue and West Jackson Avenue again this year , Both streets will be open to pedestrian traffic only, Residents who live on these streets will be the only ones permitted to travel by motorized vehicles during these hours . Cash Street will remain open from Picadilly Avenue to First Babtist Church on West Jackson Avenue , All streets need to be cleared by 9:00p.m We hope each and everyone has a Safe and Happy Halloween .
