The Spring City Police Department to conduct safety checkpoints.Officers with the Spring City Police Department will be partnering with the the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for the "Seat Belts Are For Everyone [Safe Campaign]. Officers will be conducting Safety check points ,Along with extra Saturation patrols starting Good Friday 3/30/18 thru Sunday 4/1/18 .Officers will be watching for Seat Belt usage as well as Proper Child Restraints to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities on our roadways. The check points will be established at different locations and be highly visible and posted with signs to alert approaching motorists of impending stop and check point. 2018 will be the 5th year that T.H.S.O . has sponsored the Safe Campaign, 2017 yielded the following results state wide 1,480 Child Restraint Violations, 16,571 Seat Belt Citations, The Spring City Police Department Reminds and encourages EVERYONE to BUCKLE up at all times and PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN ARE PROPERLY RESTRAINED. Spring Street and McGoffin Avenue is now open

The Spring City Nature Park is now Closed due to flooding issues.

We currently have two roads closed inside the City limits of Spring City.The following roads are closed due to water being across the roads and flooding : McGoffin Avenue at Front street [ Next to Piggly Wiggly car wash] and Spring Street @ Ketchersid/West Rhea Avenue

Due to significant flooding in the North End of the county , Rhea County Schools will be closed March 1, 2018

The Spring City Police Dept Announces Safe Campaign Participation: The S.C.P.D. will be partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for its 5th annual Seat Belts Are For Everyone [Safe] Campaign. The Statewide initiative is designed to increase seat belt usage and child passenger safety restraint usage through the implementation of occupant-protection programs, public events,and check points through out local communities across Tennessee. The S.A.F.E campaign begins Feb ,1st 2018 and concludes August 1st ,2018. The S.C.P.D. reminds and Encourages everyone to buckle up at all times, including making sure your child is properly restrained in the proper child seat . If anyone needs assistance in properly installing a child safety seat please come by the Police Department and ask for one of our Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians.We would be glad to assist you stated Chief B.j Neal .During this campaign all Spring City Police Department Officers will be out conducting Saturation patrols and check points with a special emphasis on seat belt and child restraint enforcement . Last year yielded the following results: 1,480 Child Restraint 16;571 Seat Belt Citations 835 other seat belt enforcement activities; In 2016 Tennessess's average seat belt usage was 88.95 percent , it decreased in 2017 to 88.51percent,Our goal is to achieve 100 percent seat belt usage across Tennessee, In Tennessee ,a disproportionate percentage of unrestrained fatalities tend to occur between the hours of 6 pm to 559am , 50 percent of fatalities are not wearing seat belts .
