Citizens of Brazoria: Mandatory evacuation is still in effect, because we have not received the crest of either the SanBernard or Brazos River and the Brazos crest is not due here until near the end of the week. A curfew is still in affect from dusk till dawn. Sewer plant is down because it is covered by water. And it will be MANY DAYS before the water recedes from the sewer plant, we will keep you updated. For those who remained: Regular Trash will run tomorrow for roads that are accessible. Postal Service will resume tomorrow to roads that are accessible. Call the post office for any special mail pickup and they will work with you to let you pick mail up if they cannot reach your home. Tomorrow Tuesday Sept. 5th @ 6:00 Bottomless Pit BBQ Team and members of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will be onsite at First Baptist Church Brazoria to feed 1500 folks! Includes pulled pork sandwiches, chips and water. We ask that those of you here please remain patient with the mandatory evacuation status and dusk till dawn curfew. We are all in this together and we are all tired from Hurricane Harvey's after affects to our rivers. Stay safe. Emergency Management Team and Mayor BobbyJo Newell

Citizens of Brazoria, The SanBernard possibly will crest for our area of the river within the next 24 hours. The City sewer plant is in the SanBernard we can not even see the plant. The Brazos River is due to possibly crest sometime Wednesday. We are being given updates once a day so we are going to take our river updates to once a day until this is over. PLEASE be patient and hope the river gets through here as quick and SAFE as it's going. When we get to see the sewer plant and take inventory of it we have people ready to fix it. Again we are still under a MANDATORY evacuation, flooding is not over and we have no sewer. We made posts and calls warning this could happen. Citizens of Brazoria, The SanBernard river crested in Sweeny at the highway 35 bridge last night around midnight and will approach Brazoria 24-36 hours from that time. The Brazos is not expected to crest in Brazoria until mid-week. The sewer system is not working. DO NOT wash dishes, shower, do not flush your toilets, etc. Do not send anything down a drain. This is causing sewer to back up in other citizens’ homes. We do not have an operational date at this time. Once the water goes down, the Public Works Department will assess the plant. Your drinking water is fine and is not compromised at this point and is being monitored. There are port-a-potties at the Baptist Church in town and we are attempting to get more. Please remember that the City of Brazoria is in a MANDATORY EVACUATION and citizens were informed that this was a possibility. Please feel free to evacuate to a location with sewer services. Please restrict your phone calls to the city EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT to emergencies only. Alcalde BobbyJo Newell
