Blue Santa is currently underway. Applications can be downloaded from or picked up at Clute PD (dispatch). Applications must be completed in full and returned to Clute PD no later than 11/30/2017. Must be a Clute resident to apply and must be able to show proof of residency.

Clute Police Department is currently accepting applications for Patrol Officer and Patrol Sergeant. Applicants must be TCOLE certified or currently enrolled in a law enforcement academy. We will be testing for these positions on October 19th. Applications must be turned in by October 17th. If applicants have questions, please contact Capt. Fitch or Sgt. Rickman at 979-265-6194. The Clute Police Department will be conducting testing for the new position of Police Cadet on 10/05/2017 at 8:30 a.m. Interested candidates can stop by the Clute Police Department to pick up an application or go to and click on the recruiting tab. Then click on “application”. Download the application and fill it out and return to Clute PD by 9:00 a.m. on 10/02/2017 to the attention of Sgt. Belinda Rickman. Upon employment, the Clute Police Department will pay salary, benefits, and all law enforcement academy related costs for candidates to attend a local law enforcement academy which is anticipated to begin in January, 2018. Testing will include a physical fitness test consisting of sit ups, pushups, and a 300 meter run, all based on age and gender. Testing will also consist of a written test, an oral review board which will be the following week, and a comprehensive background investigation which includes a polygraph examination. Candidates who successfully complete the background investigation will be given a conditional offer of employment with a salary of $17.00 per hour until graduation from the law enforcement academy. The conditional offer of employment includes a medical examination, drug test, and psychological examination. Upon successful graduation the Cadet will be promoted to Patrol Officer I with an annual salary of $43,658.00. Upon completion of the Field Training Program followed by a 6 month probationary period, the Officer will receive a 3 percent salary increase. If you have additional questions, please contact Sgt. Four Lake Jackson men suspected of being behind multiple vehicle burglaries in Clute and Lake Jackson are in custody, each charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, authorities say.
