The Clute Police Department will be conducting testing for the new position of Police Cadet on 10/05/2017 at 8:30 a.m.
Interested candidates can stop by the Clute Police Department to pick up an application or go to www.clutepd.com and click on the recruiting tab. Then click on “application”. Download the application and fill it out and return to Clute PD by 9:00 a.m. on 10/02/2017 to the attention of Sgt. Belinda Rickman.
Upon employment, the Clute Police Department will pay salary, benefits, and all law enforcement academy related costs for candidates to attend a local law enforcement academy which is anticipated to begin in January, 2018.
Testing will include a physical fitness test consisting of sit ups, pushups, and a 300 meter run, all based on age and gender. Testing will also consist of a written test, an oral review board which will be the following week, and a comprehensive background investigation which includes a polygraph examination.
Candidates who successfully complete the background investigation will be given a conditional offer of employment with a salary of $17.00 per hour until graduation from the law enforcement academy. The conditional offer of employment includes a medical examination, drug test, and psychological examination.
Upon successful graduation the Cadet will be promoted to Patrol Officer I with an annual salary of $43,658.00. Upon completion of the Field Training Program followed by a 6 month probationary period, the Officer will receive a 3 percent salary increase.
