On April 28th, 2018, from 10am-2pm, the DEA will coordinate a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. A national take-back day will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Controlled,non-controlled, and over the counter medications may be collected from individuals. Intra-venous solutions, injectable items, and syringes will NOT be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. The collection will take place at 2000 N. Hwy 78.

Wylie PD… There’s an App for That Wylie, TX –Wylie Police Department has launched a new mobile app and online tip form to share information with its citizens. Constant changing technology and the way people communicate has changed the way that police departments interact with their citizens. The Wylie Police Department is excited to be proactive and provide an additional way for citizens to communicate with the police department through Tip411 and the Wylie PD mobile App. Tip411 allows residents to anonymously provide tips to the police department through an online form. Citizens are able to provide detailed information about any suspicious or criminal activity, which will then be forwarded to police personnel to investigate. Citizens are also able to assist the department with identifying suspects by responding to request for information by investigators. Tips can be submitted online or by simply texting “WyliePD” from a mobile device. Tip411 allows police to send out alerts by text and email to those who sign up for the service. If you would like to sign up for this service, please visit www.tip411.com. The tip form may be also found on the Wylie Police Department website. The Wylie PD app is interactive, allowing for two way communication between the citizen and the police department. Alerts are pushed through the mobile app showing any recent crime, trends, and their locations. Citizens are then able to respond with any information or tips that would assist police in their investigations. The mobile app will also be used to push out any emergency alerts including road closures or ongoing active scenes that may require residents to take alternate action. Included in the app is an interactive crime map with information on calls for service answered by Wylie PD. The app can be found in the Apple and Android app stores. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wylie-pd/id1312844099?ls=1&mt=8 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citizenobserver.wyliepd It is important to know that this is not a substitute for 911 and is not intended for emergencies. The app is not monitored 24 hours a day.
