Carrollton Police Department News

UPDATE 6:13 pm: Express lanes open! Thanks to those of you who were stuck for your patience. Tricky job for wrecker trying to clear truck blocking northbound express lines of I 35. Plan A no go. Plan B underway. (We won’t estimate probably 20 more minutes (6:15?) out loud because we don’t want to get your hopes up.)

Northbound IH35 Express lanes between Belt Line and Luna NOT a great option this afternoon. Jackknifed truck hauling tortillas and chips (no salsa) blocking express lanes and left main lane.

UPDATE 12:10 a.m.: Josey now clear. TRAFFIC ALERT: All lanes of southbound N. Josey Ln are CLOSED at Kensington Dr. (just north of Rosemeade) for a crash investigation. Please avoid the area. We will update here when the road reopens.

The CPD Explorer Program is back! We are reestablishing this popular program for young people interested in law enforcement. Find out more at our upcoming open house for new members. More on the meeting in the flyer included here, and more information on the program itself at:

UPDATE: Lights operational again. TRAFFIC ALERT: Signal lights are out in all directions at 544/Parker Road and North Josey lane. Avoid if possible, proceed carefully and treat as a 4-way stop if you can not.

NOW HIRING POLICE OFFICERS: Our next entrance exam is November 30. Register now:

UPDATE 2:50 p.m. All lanes of northbound IH-35E are now open following crash investigation. TRAFFIC ALERT: Northbound lanes of IH35E closed from Belt Line to President George Bush Turnpike for crash investigation. #DFWTraffic

Happy Halloween from CPD!

CHALLENGING NIGHT for C shift. Lots of suspicious person calls overnight. Happens around this time every year.

Happy to partner with Lewisville ISD and the Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Collection sites open at CPD Headquarters and Hebron Valley Elementary until 2 p.m. Secure collection receptacle in our jail lobby 24/7/365 if you can’t make today’s event.

TEAMWORK! Members of the Carrollton Police Department Bike Team raised money for the families of fallen officers this weekend, taking third place at the 10th Annual Fallen Officers Bike Race in Highland Village. There were no points allotted for coolest sunglasses or they would have won.

UPDATE: Suspect has been arrested.

RUFF STUFF! CPD K9s Fax and Endo made us proud this weekend at IrondogK9 Street Tactics Training. No scenario too tough for our pups.

Need a reminder to LOCK, TAKE, HIDE? Click the "going" button on this "event", and Facebook will remind you at 9 PM tonight to lock your vehicle doors! Share this event or tag your friends/family members who might benefit from the reminder too. The method of entry in MOST vehicle burglaries in Carrollton is an unlocked door. Lock yours and the thieves will usually just move on to look for an easier target. Help us reduce vehicle burglaries and protect your property: Lock, Take, Hide!

We hope you'll join us at our next Coffee with a Cop!

Come meet the men and women of The Carrollton Police Department at our next Coffee with a Cop! We'll get together at Ms. Jane's place this time (Donut's & Cafe at 1921 E. Hebron Pkwy) for coffee and conversation. Coffee with a Cop is our casual, recurring community get together. No agenda, no speeches. It's just a come and go opportunity to share ideas, concerns, and to get to know your police department. We hope you'll stop by!

PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY: Thank you Withers Elementary for welcoming Officer Vasquez back to his alma mater to rule the roost today!
