"Forgotten Friends Friday" is here! The weather has begun to warm up, and spring is in the air. St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow, why not celebrate with this tall, dark, and handsome boy from Texas. Dallas has the personality of a true gentleman. When we took him out, he escorted both of us ladies to the grassy area where he proceeded to strut his stuff. He enjoyed being outside, stopping a moment to smell the fresh cut grass and soak up the sun. You couldn’t help but get lost in his beautiful brown eyes that match his shiny chocolate coat. Dallas is listed as an American Pit Bull Terrier mix and he is approximately 5 years old. He is neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots. Dallas is a medium-sized dog who was found as a stray. He has been at the shelter since October of last year. If you are interested in meeting with Dallas or would like more information, visit the Pasadena Animal Shelter at 5150 Burke Rd during adoption hours.

The best day of the week is here! It's "Forgotten Friends Friday"! The amazing dog we got to meet this week is a testament to not only how wonderful and resilient shelter dogs are, but also to the extraordinary care and effort that the staff at the Pasadena Animal Shelter puts into every animal that comes into their custody. When we met Johnny, we immediately noticed the sutures around his eyes. Johnny came into the shelter with entropion, which is a genetic condition where a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward. As you can imagine, this can be very uncomfortable for a dog and can lead to a variety of eye problems. The shelter was recently able to get Johnny the surgery he needed and his stitches will be coming out soon! Johnny was so well-behaved on his walk. There was no pulling or jumping, he just wanted to stay close. He definitely enjoyed all of the attention he got. Johnny is a sucker for belly rubs, and you should have seen his face when we gave him scratches right above his tail - it was a look of pure ecstasy. He just closed his eyes and stood as still as possible, as if he thought we would stop if he moved a muscle. Johnny wants nothing more than to be loved on, and we were happy to oblige. Johnny is listed as an American Bulldog and Labrador Retriever mix and he's about 2 years old. He's neutered and current on his vaccines. If you want to spend some time with Johnny and see if he could be your next roommate, visit the Pasadena Animal Shelter during adoption hours at 5150 Burke Rd.
Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour this Saturday before bed. Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 11th at 2am.
Today is International Women's Day! This annual event celebrates women's achievements and pushes forward towards gender equality. This day was formed as part of a strategy to promote equal rights for women's suffrage. It was celebrated for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland on March 19, 1911. A mere two years later, in 1913, it was proposed that the date be moved to March 8th and it has been celebrated on this day ever since. Happy International Women's Day to all the strong, beautiful women out there. #IWD2018 #internationalwomensday
Do you need a safe place to meet with someone to exchange goods you have purchased or sold online? Our Safety Exchange Zone offers just that. The Pasadena Police Department has two parking spots clearly marked in the front parking lot of our police station for our citizens to meet and sell their goods with less fear. Our Safety Exchange Zone is well lit at night and located right next to an area where our officers pass by all hours of the day and night. We also have cameras designated to monitor the location. Just yesterday we spotted some of our citizens using this area to sell and purchase goods.
Do you recognize the vehicle in this photograph? On February 28, 2018, at approximately 3:30 pm in the 600 block of Trinity Ln. several items of lawn equipment were stolen from the bed of the victim's truck. The vehicle is described as a newer model single cab white Chevrolet Pickup. The vehicle was occupied by two unidentified White or possibly Hispanic males. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Oakley with our Auto Crimes Unit at 713-475-4843.
We would like to thank the Queens Neighborhood Association for inviting us to their neighborhood meeting. Mayor Jeff Wagner surprised us all by announcing that the Queens neighborhood park would be receiving a new walking track. Mayor Wagner also revealed that the track would be named after city employee Genovevo Cruz Jr., who was killed last year by an auto theft suspect who was fleeing from South Houston Police. Geno's family was in attendance and were overwhelmed by the gesture. We would also like to thank Chief Al Espinoza, Assistant Chief Kevin Wingerson, and Lieutenants James Holt and Gene Spiller for their attendance and support of Mr. Cruz's family.
"Forgotten Friends Friday" is here! If you're looking for something to do this weekend, meeting this good looking guy should be at the top of your list! Owen is strikingly handsome. With his unusual coat and different colored eyes, you can't help but do a double take. Luckily, Owen's personality is just as fantastic as his look. Owen came out of the kennel area ready to socialize and show off his manners. We took him outside and he made sure we knew that he's had some training. He's fantastic on a leash and knows the sit command. He likes to stay close to his handler, too. He also laid down for us and gave his paw without being asked! Looks like he knows that giving his paw gets him treats and scratches. But as you can see from the smile in one of the photos, belly rubs are definitely his favorite thing. Owen is listed as an Australian Cattle Dog mix and he's approximately 2 years old. He's neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots. Owen is a fairly big boy, weighing about 63 lbs. That just means there's more of him to love! If you're interested in meeting Owen to see if he's the right fit for your family, visit the Pasadena Animal Shelter at 5150 Burke Rd during adoption hours.

We want to warn our citizens to be on the lookout for the suspect in these photos. This suspect stole a package containing a credit card from the victim’s porch in the Village Grove neighborhood. The suspect immediately used the card at the Best Buy in Pasadena as well as the Webster location to purchase 2 MacBook Pro computers, and iPad Pro, and a Canon camera. The suspect appears to be a younger Asian or Hispanic male who was seen in a plain white van. He was possibly in the neighborhood working or posing as a door-to-door salesman. If you see this individual in your neighborhood, we ask that you contact our dispatch at 713-477-1221. If you have any information about this case, please contact Detective D. Franklund at 713-475-7039.
***UPDATE*** Thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff and volunteers of the Pasadena Animal Shelter, Friends of the Pasadena Texas Animal Shelter, all of you who shared posts, and one amazing family, Dot has left the shelter! She will be able to have her puppies and care for them in a safe, stress-free home. As you can see from this photo sent in by her foster family, she has an awesome setup and that tail wag tells us she's pretty happy about it! Thank you again to everyone who shared her post and worked to help her!
We have another amazing dog to share with you today for "Forgotten Friends Friday"! Benny is a big, happy boy. You can't be around this dog and not smile uncontrollably - his joy is infectious! No matter what Benny is doing, he makes sure that he's living his best life and appreciating every moment. As you can see from his photos, he stops to smell the flowers, makes the most of his time outdoors, never stops smiling and having fun, and he loves to help out. Everyone at the shelter loves Benny and he's never met a stranger. This dog has the best personality ever. If just a few minutes with Benny brightened our day, I can't imagine how much better life would be for the family that gives him a forever home. Benny is listed as a Rottweiler and Bernese Mountain Dog mix and he's about 1 year and 9 months old. He's neutered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on his shots. If you want to hang out with what might be the coolest dog you'll ever meet, visit the Pasadena Animal Shelter's Pet Adoption Center at 5160 Burke Rd during adoption hours.
**UPDATE: DOT HAS LEFT THE SHELTER AND ENTERED A FOSTER HOME!** "Forgotten Friends Friday" has come around again! We have a different type of request for you this morning. While we mostly encourage adoptions on our Friday pet posts, we want you to know that there are a lot of ways to help the Pasadena Animal Shelter and their furry residents. You can volunteer your time at the shelter, donate items and/or funds to help them, or you can foster an animal. There are many animals that come into the shelter with special circumstances that aren't quite ready for adoption, but they still need help. This morning's featured dog is one of those. When Dot first came out of the shelter to meet us, it was immediately obvious that she is heavily pregnant. The shelter staff said that she is ready to give birth any time now. As you can imagine, a loud, chaotic, exposed environment like a shelter is not the best place for a pregnant dog or newborn puppies. Dot would benefit tremendously from a foster home so that she can have her puppies in a safe, quiet, stress-free environment. Dot is one of the sweetest, most calm dogs we've ever met, it's obvious why she's a favorite of the shelter staff. She was shaking as she came outside to meet us, but as soon as she realized she was safe, Dot calmed down very quickly and wanted affection. She's so endearing and just wants to be loved. She loves to put her head on you so that you can pet her and tell her she's a good girl. If you can't adopt, please consider fostering Dot. Dot is listed as an Australian Cattle Dog mix and she's about 2 years old. She's up-to-date on her shots and will be spayed after she has her puppies. If you're interested in fostering Dot or if you'd like more information on fostering and other ways to help, visit the Pasadena Animal Shelter at 5150 Burke Rd or call them at 281-991-0602.
Please take a moment to look at these photographs. Do you recognize this subject or vehicle? On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, the subject seen in these photographs stole a large sum of money from the victim's vehicle after the victim made a withdrawal from a local bank on Spencer Hwy. The suspect followed the victim from the bank to a local business on Witter St. While the victim went into the business, the suspect entered the victim's vehicle and stole the money. The suspect is believed to be in his 20s and approximately 6 feet tall. The vehicle is possibly a 2000 model Buick Regal. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Detective L. Powell at 713-475-7213.
