UPDATE: 28-year-old Joseph Vallejo was booked into the Travis County Jail and is being charged with Agg. Assault w/ Deadly Weapon, a 2nd Degree Felony. Original Statement: Austin PD has the suspect in custody and the weapon was located at the scene. Around 8:30 a.m., 9-1-1 received a call about a shooting near the 6000 block of Airport Blvd. Four minutes later, Austin Police arrived on scene and received a description of the suspect. About a minute later, officers located the suspect, but the suspect did not follow commands and a foot pursuit took place. During the pursuit, the suspect tripped and fell, injuring himself. APD officers were able to take him into custody. The victim and suspect are at the hospital receiving treatment for non life-threatening injuries. Neither the victim nor suspect are ACC students. Via Capital Metro: Bus and rail services were not interrupted near the Highland area.
