At Murray PD we wanted to give you some tips to protect your home from Residential burglaries this holiday season...
1.Lock your doors. A lot of time criminals will walk up to your front door to see if its unlocked. Most common point of entry to a residence is the front door or a back door. When you're away from your home, even for just a few minutes, lock your doors.
2.Close windows. Residential Burglaries are a crime of opportunity, don’t give away that opportunity by leaving a window open.
3.Lock up your valuables. Criminals will look in your master bedroom (drawers, closets and under the mattress), make sure your valuables aren’t in place that can easily be found.
4.Vacation Watch; Did you know you can go to the Murray City website and you can notify the PD when you’ll be out of town? Murray Police will make an extra effort to provide protection to those requesting this service.
If you find yourself a victim of a Residential burglary please call our dispatch as soon as possible. Don’t enter your home and if you have, exit your home and wait for officers to make sure it’s safe to enter. Officers will need a list of items taken, what color those items are, what the value of the items are today (not what the item is brand new), make/model of item and serial number if available.
Remember if you see something, say something…Help keep Murray Safe!
