Our thoughts and prayers go out toward the family and friends of Dispatcher (Ret) Ronald "Ronnie" Burroughs with the Sheriff's Office. Dispatchers can be the difference between life or death. Ronnie had the capability of taking that frantic phone call and providing us with the critical information, in a calm voice, that helped us catch the bad guys and come home safe to our families. This job is stressful enough, but Ronnie made it bearable through his wit and comedy. So as we mourn the loss of this U.S. Army Veteran and Dispatcher, with 26 glorious years of service to this community, with his end tour of duty (10-42), We say Thank You and Mission Accomplished!

The men and women of the Rocky Mount Police Department would like to congratulate Shawn Richardson on his promotion from "Officer to Sergeant". Congratulations Sgt. Richardson! #rmpd

The men and women of the Rocky Mount Police Department will be wearing pink badges through the month of October as it is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. We will also be showing our support by putting the pink ribbon on one of our vehicles. The pink ribbon means health, vitality and empowerment of women and breast cancer awareness. We hope this will encourage and raise awareness of the importance for women to do monthly and yearly breast examinations for early detection and successful treatment.
