DID YOU KNOW: La Center has an increasing problem with dogs running at large. The City of La Center pays Clark County Animal Control $120 per animal, for each one transported to the SW WA Humane Society. If the Humane Society is unable to locate the owner, they also bill the City $45 for each animal transported to them. There is a potential that each transported animal costs the Citizens of La Center $165. We average 2 "found dogs" a week, sometimes more. Therefore, we will only impound dogs found inside the city limits. LCPD makes every attempt to locate the owner prior to calling Animal Control. LCPD has a microchip reader but not all animals have chips. We also contact the owners if the animal has a city tag or license and arrange for pickup. LCPD has a dog kennel where the animals are temporarily housed until Animal Control arrives but housing animals overnight is not feasible due to the animals exposure to the weather. Please be diligent about keeping your pet contained on your property and properly licensed.

The Vancouver Police Department is asking the public to keep an eye out for several people, two suspected of taking cash from an ATM and two others for theft.
