Sultan Police Department News

I'm speechless and amazed at how the people in the Sky Valley take care of each other. These brand new backpacks, complete with new school supplies inside were delivered to the Police Dept. by a Sky Valley resident who asked us to give them out to any kid who needs one. WOW!! I only have 7 of these, so if you know of a kiddo that needs one, get a hold of me asap. We will even hand deliver them! Lt. McDonald

After 30 years of law enforcement service, Deputy Rick Griner has earned a well deserved retirement. He is an outstanding community member and an even better cop. I want to publically thank him for his hard work and dedication to the citizens of the Sky Valley. He will be missed. THANK YOU!.

Hi All Just a reminder that I will be holding a community meeting this Thurs night, 6p-7p at the Ixtapa in town. Hope to see you there.

Very good day. East County Sergeant Ryan Boyer was officially promoted today.

Hi Everyone After much feedback about having my monthly coffee meetings later in the day, I have scheduled a night time meeting. Please mark your calendars for March 29th from 6p to 7p at the Ixtapa in town. Hope to see you there!! Lt McDonald

Congratulations to Sultan School Resource Deputy Craig Hess on being awarded the 2017 Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the year tonight at our awards ceremony. We couldn’t ask for a more dedicated person to protect our kids. Nice job!!

Hi Everyone Just a reminder that Coffee with the Chief is tomorrow at 2:30p at Galaxy Chocolates. Hope to see you there.

A big thank you to those that came to the block watch training on Monday. Here are just a few things that Sgt. Alanis discussed to help make you a less attractive target for crime: 1. Get to know your neighbors (names and phone numbers). 2. Always be aware and vigilant (if you see something, say something). 3. Remove any large obstructions around your house that may hide someone breaking into your house, and replace or add lighting around the exterior of your house. More info on block watch to come soon.

Hi All- On Monday, Feb 12th at 4pm I have arranged for Sgt Nathan Alanis to come to Sultan City Hall to give us some block watch training, and everyone is invited. Whether you are interested in assisting with Sultan’s or Gold Bar’s block watch programs, or just want some information on crime prevention tips, this is some good info. Should only last about an hour. Thank you.

For our coffee date on the 21st, I have also invited Lt. Keith Rogers, who is the city of Snohomish's Police Chief. We will be talking about what he and I will be doing cooperatively to increase social engagement with the Sky Valley community as well as ideas we will be exploring to address crime. Come one, come all!! 2:30 on the 21st at Galaxy Chocolates. Hope to see you there.

Sultan Deputy Mike Wilson out on random partol spotted this Honda, which turned out to be stolen out of Spokane County. Two more criminals taken off the streets of Sultan today. Great job Dep. Wilson!!

Hi All- My next coffee with the Chief date will be Wed, Feb 21st at 2:30pm. I will be bringing with me Sgt. Ryan Boyer, who is a brand new Sergeant and is excited to be out here in the Sky Valley. Come by and meet him. Hope to see you there!!

Hi Everyone- Just a reminder that the next “Coffee with the Chief” is this coming Tuesday at 1100am at Galaxy. Joining me will be Deputy Hess who is assigned as the school resource officer for the school district. In addition to what I will be discussing, he will be talking about what’s been going on at the schools. Hope to see you on Tuesday!!

Preparing for Pierce Co. Deputy McCartney’s funeral service. Sad day. Thank you Sky Valley for all of your support to The Sno Co Sheriff’s Office and Sultan PD.

Hi Everyone- Due to the tragic death of Pierce County Deputy Dan McCartney, I need to postpone our coffee date. I recently took over as the Commander of the Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard Unit, so I will be down at his funeral all day. Please mark your calendar for the following the new date. TUESDAY, January 23rd @ 1100am. Thank you.

Hi Everyone I hope you all had a safe and happy New Years Eve. Just a heads up, now that the holidays are past us, I will be resuming “Coffee with the Chief”. The next date is Jan 17th at 11:00am, at Galaxy Chocolates. Hope to see you there!!

On behalf of the Sultan Police Dept. and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I want to thank you all for everything you do in partnering with us to make this area the best area to live, work, and play. All the best in 2018!! Lt. Steve McDonald-Chief of Police.

Enroute to the Sultan boys and girls club to drop off a stocking and gifts for some very deserving kiddos! Then, off to drop off some food and a gift card to the family that the East Precinct/Sultan PD adopted for the holidays. Thank you to the deputies, office staff, and Command Staff that donated to this totally awesome cause. I love this job!!! Ho, Ho, Ho!!!!

Lead elf Dep. Griner giving the rest of us elves instructions during last night’s “Shop with a Cop.” We had a great turnout of kids and a great turnout of elves to help. Thank you Lead elf Griner for organizing this super cool event. #CommunityFirst.

Hi Everyone- Unfortunately it's that time of the year again! No, not because of Christmas!!! Ha Ha. But because thieves are following around the UPS and FedEx trucks and stealing packages off people's porches. Remember to take every precaution to prevent the Grinch from stealing your Christmas! Also, myself along with several other Sheriff's Office employees will be down at the Fred Meyer in Snohomish tomorrow night at 6:30 pm for our annual "Shop with a Cop" program. We have about 35 kids that we will be giving $50 each and help them buy whatever their little hearts desire. Several of the kids are from Sultan and Gold Bar. Feel free to stop by and say hi. Thank you!!! Lt. McDonald

Hi Everyone- So I was just told a little while ago that we still have a couple more beds to give away. I would love to keep the Christmas giving spirit going!! If you know of a needy family that needs a bed for their kiddos let me know ASAP. You can stop by the PD and give us the info, and we will take it from there. There is nothing better than seeing a smile on a kid’s face when we give them their very own bed and maybe even a teddy bear!! Thank you Sky Valley!!! You are the best!!!! Lt. McDonald

Deputy Griner recently assisted with delivering a brand new donated bed and frame to a needy family in Sultan. The kiddos were very happy to see the police come to their house!! Thank you Dep. Griner!! This is a perfect example of the Sheriff's Office motto of "Community First."

With the heavy rains lately we have some pretty significant flooding in and around the city. Please watch for road closed signs and do not drive around them. Watch for standing water on the roadway and drive careful. The Sultan Police Department and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are wishing your families a happy Thanksgiving Holiday!!!

Hi everyone. Just a reminder that there is a community block watch meeting tomorrow night at City Hall at 7pm. I will have members of the Sheriff’s Office giving tips on crime prevention, how we can address our homeless population, as well as 2 of our K-9 teams. Hope to see you there!!

Had a GREAT time handing out candy to the kids. A big thank you to Dep. Mike Wilson, Vicki Bowerman, and Mayor John Seehuus for helping. Handed out a ton of candy. Not responsible for any future dental bills!! Ha ha.
